Japanese multinational electronics giant Panasonic on Monday expanded its Eluga series of smartphone portfolio with the launch of a new mid-range smartphone, dubbed as the “Panasonic Eluga A4” in the Indian tech market. The Panasonic Eluga A4 is the successor to the company’s previous Eluga A3 model, which was launched in India in the month of August, along with the company’s another mid-range device, Panasonic Eluga A3 Pro. As the Japanese vendor promised earlier, it would be launching about 15 smartphones for the Indian market in this current year and all of them would be priced under Rs. 15,000. However, the company has kept its promise as the Panasonic Eluga A4 has been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 12,490.
Carried a such an attractive price tag, the offline-exclusive Panasonic Eluga A4 will be made available for purchase in India starting today via all Panasonic authorised retail stores across the country in Mocha Gold, Marine Blue, Champagne Gold colour options. At this price point, this newly launched smartphone will compete against the likes of Xiaomi’s most successful Redmi Note 4 and Motorola Moto G5S. The key highlights of the Panasonic Eluga A4 are its massive 5,000mAh battery, 13MP rear camera and company’s proprietary AI-powered (Artificial Intelligence) assistant support, called ARBO personal assistant. ARBO is a virtual assistant that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to track and learn your daily life activity patterns.
In terms of specifications, the Panasonic Eluga A4 comes equipped with a 5.2-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistant 2.5D curved glass coating on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. On the software front, the handset runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. The smartphone sports a full-metal unibody design and features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for the biometric authentication process.
In terms of optics, the Panasonic Eluga A4 sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and an LED flash module. On the front, the handset features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for making video calls and capturing selfies. Connectivity options offered by the Panasonic Eluga A4 include dual-SIM dual standby (Hybrid–Nano+Nano), 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, and Fingerprint Sensor (rear-mounted). On the battery front, the Panasonic Eluga A4 comes loaded with a powerful 5,000mAh battery that is rated to deliver a decent battery life on a single charge. Dimension wise, the handset measures 149.5 x 74 x 8.95mm and measures 162 grams.
