Actress Trisha Krishnan has seen it all in a career that spans nearly two decades. From riding the high tide as the Numero Uno female lead in the Tamil film industry to roles that simply didn’t materialize successfully as she might have wanted, the Ghilli lady has carved a niche for herself over the years among her fans and especially the female audiences with her spot on performances and animal welfare activities.
Now, Trisha has been conferred with the UNICEF celebrity advocate status in light of the World Children’s Day. The popular actress will be championing the causes of children including adolescents and provide further support in the efforts to deal with anaemia and social problems such as child marriage, child labour and child abuse, prominently being faced by children across Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
It is the first time that such an honor has been bestowed upon any actress in South India. Speaking at the event commemorating her, Trisha said, “I feel honoured with this recognition. I commit myself to create more awareness on health, education, nutrition and protection of children, especially the adolescents and young people in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. I would support the efforts of the government to make Tamil Nadu malnutrition-free and open defecation free.”
She further stressed on the need for educating girls saying, “If all the girls attend school up to 18 years, we can eliminate child marriage and child labour. In long run, girls’ education will also contribute to the reduction of maternal and infant mortality and malnutrition among children.”
On the work front, Trisha is a busy bee these days with films namely Mohini, 96, Garjanai, 1818 and Sathuranga Vettai 2.
