According to the latest TRAI data, Reliance Jio beat Airtel & Vodafone becoming the fastest 4G service provider in India in December 2016. Although earlier in October 2016, TRAI data showed Jio was the slowest among all 4G service providers. Since then Jio’s 4G speeds have increased dramatically.
TRAI Myspeed Portal shows that at an average download speed of 9.9 Mbps Jio is currently the fastest among all 4G service providers. Airtel 4G finishes second with 8.1 Mbps. Vodafone, however, stands third with 7.5 Mbps average 4G download speed.
Although the chart varies slightly when not just 4G but all services are considered. Nevertheless, Jio stands first with 9.9 Mbps for the obvious reason that Jio only provides 4G services.
However, the upload speed charts are considerably different from the download speed charts. It is seen that Vodafone 4G has the highest average upload speed- 4.1 Mbps. Jio, however, holds the fourth place with an average upload speed of 2.6 Mbps.
TRAI Myspeed portal showcases the summary of results of TRAI MySpeed. TRAI Myspeed is an app available for Android and iOS. This app measures data speed, signal strength and other network information and reports these to the regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
