This Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor starrer is striving hard to be a success at the box ofice. Directed by Shaad Ali, this romantic movie is a remake of much-liked “O Kadhal Kanmani” that starred Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menon and was directed by Mani Ratnam. The screenplay of the movies was also written by Mani Ratnam.
Ok Jaanu is about the Adi and Tara, two millennials, who want to be in a live-in relationship but would not like to get married. Other than Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, we also have Naseeruddin Shah and Leela Samson, who are seen as an elderly couple in the movie. Unlike its original, this movie is still trying hard to pull in audiences at the theaters. With Amir Khan’s Dangal still running strong at the cinemas, we will have to wait and watch how Ok Jaanu fares in the coming days.
This is not Shaad Ali’s first Hindi remake. Rani Mukherji and Vivek Oberoir starrer hit movie Saathiya was his remake of the successful Tamil film, Alaipayuthey. The music of Ok Jaanu has been given by A.R.Rahman and the songs hit all the right notes. The movie has managed to collect a total of around 15.75 cr at the box office, with Monday’s collection being 1.95 crores.
