Legends returning back to international cricket after taking retirement has not been Australian cricket’s cup of tea. Many players have performed exceptionally well even after their retirements and therefore there is always a speculation of some player returning back to international cricket .
In the latest edition of BBL,the Aussie legend Mitchell Johnson registered sensational figures of 3-3 in the semi finals. He also returned with excellent figures in the final leading his team Perth Scorchers to their 3rd BBL title. But Mitchell Johnson in his latest interview has ruled out all the speculations of his comeback to international cricket .
The latest assignment for Australian players is the T-20 series against Sri Lanka at home but as most of the regular players will be in India for the Test series ,the T-20 team is going to see some new faces for sure. When Mitchell Johnson was asked if he would like to represent Australia again,he replied
“When that’s getting thrown in your face it’s like, ‘It would be nice to play’ but I don’t think I want to play (again for Australia), to be honest. I don’t think it would be as enjoyable for me.”
Earlier when he was interviewed after the semi final, where he took record figures against Melbourne Stars, he was asked the same question by the media to which he responded,
“You always think about those kind of things (coming out of retirement). But to be honest playing this Big Bash, I came out here, really enjoyed it, had fun and I don’t think I’ll play international cricket again. That’s me done and dusted. I enjoyed it while I played but I’m just enjoying myself playing some of this T20 stuff,” quoted Mitchell Johnson.
We know this is a very rare affair to see our favorite players back to international arena. But there is nothing bad in keeping a hope.
