After introducing the Blu S1 smartphone in the US market, Miami-based smartphone manufacturer Blu Products on Wednesday expanded its Vivo series of smartphones portfolio with the launch a new selfie-centric smartphone, called the “Blu Vivo 8L” in the US market. The model name of the smartphone might suggest that the U.S. based company, Blu Products has made the new Blu Vivo 8L smartphone in a collaboration with Chinese smartphone company Vivo. But the Blu Vivo 8L is completely a new member in the US-based company’s popular Vivo series. Carried a sticker price of US$ 199.99 (approximately Rs 13,000), the Blu Vivo 8L is now already made available for purchase in the US via the e-commerce website Amazon.com in Midnight Black colour option. Blu Products is also offering a limited time sales promotion of the new Blu Vivo 8L with an immediate $50 off against its original price of $199.99. It will be available on Amazon.com for the incredible price of $149.99. The smartphone is an unlocked GSM phone that works on all GSM Networks including AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, MetroPCS, Straight Talk, and others.

In terms of design, the Blu Vivo 8L sports a metal unibody design with a metal frame all around an aluminum back cover, meaning that the smartphone comes with a relatively premium build quality. The new smartphone also features capacitive navigation touch buttons and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, that is housed on the rear panel of the device. The company claims that the fingerprint recognition button unlocks the smartphone just within 0.2 seconds. The volume rockers and the power/lock button are placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone, while a 3.5mm audio socket is placed on the right bottom edge of the handset along with a microUSB port sitting in the middle. The speaker grilles are also seen on the rear-end of the handset. The rear panel of the Blu Vivo 8L houses a 13MP rear camera setup, an LED flash module and a fingerprint sensor, while the top front panel features a 20MP selfie camera, LED flash and an earpiece.

Talking about its specifications, the Blu Vivo 8L flaunts a 5.3-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of the display. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor paired with Mali T720 GPU to take care of graphics. In terms of memory, the Blu Vivo 8L is backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card slot. Talking about its software front, the Blu Vivo 8L runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.

In terms of optics, the Blu Vivo 8L houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX258 sensor, an f/2.0 aperture, 1/3-inch sensor, 5P Lens, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), Laser Autofocus and an LED flash module. The rear camera also supports Panorama Mode, Face Beautification and Slow Motion Video recording. On the front, the smartphone features a 20-megapixel “Super Selfie” camera with 1/2.8-inch sensor, an f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens. The front camera also comes equipped with an LED flash module for capturing bright selfies and making video calls even in low light conditions. Talking about its multimedia department, the Blu Vivo 8L comes with powerful speakers with MAXXAudio technology support that delivers an impressive theatre-like sound experience to the users.

In terms of connectivity, the Blu Vivo 8L supports various connectivity options including 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth v4.0, hotspot, USB OTG, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microUSB port for charging and other connectivity. On the battery front, the Blu Vivo 8L comes loaded with a denser 4,000mAh non-removable Li-Polymer battery that supports fast charging technology using a 5V/2A adapter. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Fingerprint (rear-mounted) sensor and a Gyroscope sensor. Dimension wise, the handset measures at 150.5 x 74.4 x 8.0 mm and 161 grams.
