After launching the Cool Play 6 mid-range smartphone in the Indian market in August this year, Chinese smartphone company Coolpad on Wednesday expanded its product portfolio with the launch of a new budget smartphone, dubbed as the “Coolpad Play 6C” in the Chinese tech market at a price tag of CNY 849 (approximately Rs. 8,300). Carried a such an attractive price tag, the new Coolpad Cool Play 6C is now available for pre-order on the Chinese e-commerce website JD.com, and the same will be going on sale in China starting November 25 in Black colour option. Unfortunately, the Chinese brand has made no official announcements about the pricing details and availability of the Cool Play 6C for other markets including India.
In terms of design, the Coolpad Cool Play 6C sports an all-metal unibody design with metal frame all around, giving it an overall premium look. The phone also features dual front-facing camera setup and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, located just under the rear camera. The volume up-down keys and the power/lock button are all placed on the right-hand edge of the device, and a 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the very top edge of the handset. The dual speaker grilles are also seen at the bottom edge of the device along with a microUSB charging port sitting in the middle.
Coming to its specifications, the Coolpad Cool Play 6C comes equipped with a 5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card. On the software front (OS), the smartphone runs on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. The device also features a front-mounted (underneath the Home Button) fingerprint sensor for the biometric authentication process.
In terms of photography, the Coolpad Cool Play 6C packs a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), and an LED flash module. On the front, the handset features a dual front-facing camera, which comes combined with one 5-megapixel primary sensor and one 8-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 120-degree wide angle lens for capturing wider selfies and making video calls. The rear also supports various modes like Face Beauty, HDR, Touch focus, Face Detection, Low Light Mode, Smile detection, Gesture Shot, Voice Capture and Manual Mode.
Connectivity options offered by the Coolpad Cool Play 6C include dual-SIM dual standby, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Cool Play 6C is fuelled by a 2,500mAh battery Sensors on the device include an Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and a front-mounted Fingerprint sensor. Dimension wise, the handset measures 143.9 x 7.8 x 8.1mm and it weighs 160 grams.
