Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 has been gaining a lot of hype after Lyca Productions, the makers of the project, confirmed that the movie was being made on a humongous budget of Rs. 350 crore.
According to The Indian Express reports, Rajinikanth and Shankar’s magnum opus 2.0 will be “Hollywood-level” with VFX, music, cast and direction being top notch. The film is also said to showcase sophisticated technology like its prequel, Enthiran, but on a larger scale.
Enthiran 2.0’s budget has made it one of India’s biggest motion pictures, beating SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali, which had a whopping budget of Rs. 250 crore.
Lyca productions are hopeful of recovering their investment as the movie stars two great superstars, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. It was initially to include the great legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he backed out due to certain contractual reasons.
Creative head of Lyca Productions, Raju Mahalingam said, “We are making 2.0 keeping the global audience in mind. It is being made at a cost of around Rs. 350 crores, making it India’s costliest film ever. We want to make the trailer launch a grand event and create a huge buzz around the film which will be released in the second half of 2017”, FirstPost reported.
Enthiran 2.0 will have Amy Jackson as the female lead, whereas in its prequel, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played the leading lady. The movie’s music direction will be handled by the music legend AR Rahman and the visual effects will be done by Srinivas, who helmed the VFX effects of Rajamouli’s Baahubali.
The movie initially shot in Tamil, will be dubbed in Telugu and Hindi, respectively.
2.0 is a science fiction film, written and directed by S. Shankar, co-written by B. Jeyamohan and produced by Subasskaran Allirajah, the London-based Lyca Productions founder, and is a successor to the 2010 Tamil film Enthiran.
