After launching the K8 Note in India last month, Chinese PC and tablet manufacturer Lenovo on Wednesday expanded its “K” series of smartphone portfolio with the launch of “Lenovo K8 Plus” in the Indian tech market. The Lenovo K8 Plus is a new member of company’s new K8 series that we have seen the recently launched Lenovo K8 Note with dual rear camera setup and now the K8 Plus can be considered as a watered-down version of the Lenovo K8 Note. At the time of Lenovo K8 Plus launch event, Mr. Anuj Sharma, Product Marketing Head, Lenovo India announced that they will also launch the K8 smartphone in the country pretty soon. The company has also shared some key specifications of the K8 smartphone, which features almost same characteristics as we seen on the Lenovo K8 Note and K8 Plus. But unfortunately, the pricing details and availability of the K8 have not revealed by the company yet. However, we will inform you when we know more.
Let’s come to the point, Lenovo K8 Plus has been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 10,999, and will be made available for purchase in India starting from tomorrow, September 7th at 12:00 PM (Thursday) exclusively via e-commerce website Flipkart.com in Fine Gold and Venom Black colour options. The main highlights of the smartphone are its dual rear camera setup, Google’s stock version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat, a high-density 4,000mAh battery, 3GB RAM and a front LED flash module for capturing bright selfies even in low light conditions. The Chinese vendor will also launch a special edition of Lenovo K8 Plus with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage during Diwali period.
Launch offers on the Lenovo K8 Plus smartphone include a Buyback Guarantee up to Rs. 5000; Up to 10,000 off on exchange of old phones; up to 30GB of additional Reliance Jio 4G data with unlimited calls at just Rs. 399 (with Jio Prime membership); Moto Pulse 2 headphones (worth Rs. 1599) at a discounted price of Rs. 599; and 5W Bluetooth speakers (worth Rs. 1,899) at a discounted price of Rs. 1,199.
Lenovo K8 Plus Design:
In terms of design, the Lenovo K8 Plus comes engineered with a 5000-series aluminium and polycarbonate body with metal edges, meaning that the device sports a relatively premium build quality. The Lenovo K8 Plus also features a trio of capacitive navigation touch buttons and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, which is located in the middle of the back panel. The volume up-down keys and the power/lock button are all placed on the right-hand edge of the device and a multi-functional Music Key is placed on the left-hand edge of the handset. The dedicated Music Key on the smartphone allows users to open the music app, and control playback, based on shortcuts. The Lenovo K8 Plus also sports a front LED flash that is placed on the top left corner of the front panel, while the rear panel of the device houses a vertical dual camera setup, dual-tone LED flash module and a fingerprint recognition button. A 3.5 mm audio socket is placed on the very top edge of the device, while the speaker grilles are seen on the very bottom edge of the device along with a microUSB charging port sitting in the middle.
Lenovo K8 Plus Specifications:
As far as specifications are concerned, the Lenovo K8 Plus flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920×1280 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating on top of the display. Under the hood, the smartphone draws its power from a 2.5GHz MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor, which is clubbed with Mali T880 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the device comes loaded with a 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. Talking about its software front, the Lenovo K8 Plus runs on Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with stock Android UI. The stock Android UI provides users a cleaner interface and a smoother experience. The company also says that the Lenovo K8 Plus will also get the recently launched Android 8.0 Oreo update pretty soon.
For photography, the Lenovo K8 Plus features a dual rear-facing camera setup that comes combined with a 13-megapixel primary camera with and a 5-megapixel secondary camera. The rear camera features include an f/2.0 aperture, Largan 5P lens, and a dual-LED flash module. On the front, the smartphone bears an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter with an f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree wide-angle lens, and an LED ‘Party Flash’ for capturing bright selfies in low light conditions.
On the connectivity front, the Lenovo K8 Plus supports Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, Dolby Atmos, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Micro-USB port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include a Proximity sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Fingerprint (rear-mounted), and a Gyroscope sensor. On the battery front, the Lenovo K8 Plus is backed up by a denser 4,000mAh non-removable battery that is rated to offer up to 13 hours of web browsing, up to 20 hours of video playback time, up to 100 hours of music playback time (with headphones) and up to two days of standby time. Dimensionally, the handset measures 147.9 x 73.7 x 8.99mm and weighs 165 grams.
Lenovo K8 Specifications:
As we mentioned above, Lenovo has also introduced the Lenovo K8 along with K8 Plus but the company has not detailed about its availability but it would be hitting offline stores pretty soon. Gathering some key specs, the Lenovo K8 features 5.2-inch HD IPS display along with a 2.5D curved glass. The device is powered by a 2.3GHz MediaTek Helio P20 octa-core processor paired with Mali T880 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. In terms of optics, the handset comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Both the cameras are accompanied by an LED flash. The smartphone also runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and comes packed with a 4,000mAh battery.
