After launching the Q6 smartphone in the Indian market, South Korean electronics giant LG on Tuesday reportedly launched a model of its popular K series of smartphones, called the “LG K8” in the Indian tech market. Although the company did not organise any launch programme event for its LG K8 smartphone but a Mumbai-based mobile phone retailer, Mahesh Telecom has recently shared this announcement on its official Twitter account. The tweet reads, “New launch #LGK8 (X240i) now available for ₹9999/- only [MRP ₹ 11000/-]”. According to the mobile retailer, the LG K8 is now already made available for purchase in India via all major offline retail stores across the country at a price tag of Rs. 9,999, against its actual price of Rs. 11,000.

In case you don’t remember, the South Korean brand unveiled their 2017 K-series of smartphones – the LG K3 (2017), LG K4 (2017), LG K8 (2017), and LG K10 (2017)— at the Consumer Electronics Show in January this year. Out of these four models, the LG K10 (2017) has already made its debut on the Indian tech market a couple of months ago and the phone is now retailing in India with a price tag of Rs. 13,990. All these mid-range smartphones come with a rear fingerprint scanner and a 120-degree wide-angle front camera lens.

LG K8 Specifications and Features:

Talking about its specifications, the LG K8 (2017) comes equipped with a 5-inch HD In-cell Touch display with a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.

For photography enthusiasts, the K8 features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with an ultra-bright f/2.2 aperture, autofocus, and an LED flash module. The primary camera is capable of shooting videos in Full HD 1080p video recording at 30 fps. On the front, the smartphone sports a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with a 120-degree wide-angle selfie lens for capturing selfies and making video calls.

Connectivity options offered by the LG K8 (2017) include Dual-SIM connectivity, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio with RDS, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the device is backed up by a 2,500mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 18 hours of talk time and up to 490 hours of standby time. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, and Fingerprint (rear-mounted) sensor. Dimensionally, the handset measures 144.5 x 72.1 x 8 mm and weighs 144 grams.
