After launching the GLC-43 4MATIC Coupe in the Indian market last month, German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz on Monday launched a special edition of its popular luxury GLC SUV, dubbed as the “Mercedes-Benz GLC Celebration Edition” in the Indian four wheeler market at a starting price of Rs. 50.86 lakh (Ex-showroom). The GLC Celebration Edition has been launched in the country in order to commemorate 70 years of India’s Independence. The new Mercedes-Benz GLC Celebration Edition has been offered by the company in one diesel variant — the Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d Celebration Edition and one petrol variant – the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Celebration Edition. Mercedes-Benz India launched their mid-size luxury GLC SUV in India in the month of June last year.
As for pricing, the diesel engine-powered Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d special edition has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 50.86 lakh, while the petrol engine-powered Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 special edition is priced at Rs. 51.25 lakh (all prices are mentioned ex-showroom, Pan-India). Power & Engine:
Talking about its mechanical department, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Celebration Edition is powered by a 2,143cc, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor and a 1,991cc, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The diesel engine generates 170 bhp of peak power against the peak torque of 400 Nm. On the other hand, the 1,991cc turbocharged petrol engine develops 245 bhp of maximum power against the maximum torque of 370 Nm. Both the engines come mated to a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission that sends the power to the all four wheels via the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
Exterior & Interior Features:
Talking about its exterior design, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Celebration Edition looks more aggressive than the standard version. The GLC Celebration Edition comes equipped with an LED logo projector on the exit lamps of the doors, 18-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels, three-dimensional radiator grille with chrome fins, sporty air intakes under the headlamps, and sportier high gloss black exterior mirror housing for ORVMs. At the rear, the SUV features LED tail lamps, a chrome rear trim strip and dual chrome-plated exhaust pipes.
Inside the cabin, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Celebration Edition houses leather upholstery with electrically adjustable seats, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, three-zone climate control, panoramic electric sunroof, COMAND infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and much more. In addition, the Celebration Edition features a Garmin Map Pilot SD card system for the navigation system and stainless steel finished sports pedals.
Safety Features:
In terms of safety, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Celebration Edition offers various safety features including seven airbags (dual front airbags, front side airbags and curtain airbags), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), ESP stability control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Brake Assist (BA), Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, Curve Dynamic Assist and Reversing Camera.
