After launching the camera-centric Selfie 2 smartphone in the Indian market, now it seems like the Home-grown handset manufacturer Micromax is all set to announce its next-generation bezel-less smartphone series, christened as “Micromax Canvas Infinity” in the Indian tech market pretty soon. The company has already started sending out “Block Your Date” media invites for an upcoming smartphone launch event, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, August 22. At the event, Micromax will be announcing the pricing details and availability of its all-new smartphone lineup, Canvas Infinity.
Though the press invite doesn’t reveal any clear information about the upcoming Micromax smartphones or which specific smartphone will launch at the event, it is likely to be the Micromax’s next-generation bezel-less Canvas Infinity smartphone lineup. As expected, Micromax could launch at least two smartphones in the new Canvas Infinity series, which will sport an unusual display screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. The media invite shows an image outline of the device, company logo or brand name, scheduled launch date and a tag line “Let’s put a number to Infinity” which points towards the Canvas Infinity smartphone series.
While the full details or specifications of the device are yet to be revealed, it’s expected to sport high-end features like large screen with curved edges, Snapdragon 835 SoC, dual rear camera setup, etc. Apart from this, we don’t have any other information about the Micromax’s upcoming smartphone but we promise that we will give you all the details when the device is actually announced or when we know more.
Till the date, there are only three smartphones launched in the Indian market, which comes equipped with an Infinity display with an unusual aspect ratio of 18:9 against the standard aspect ratio of 16:9. We have already seen the Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and the recently launched LG Q6 with FullVision display, all these three devices feature an Infinity display with rounded corners. The Samsung Galaxy S8, and LG G6 are premium smartphones as they priced at Rs. 57,900 and Rs. 37,789 respectively, but Micromax is trying to bring the Canvas Infinity at an affordable price tag. Once launched in the Indian market, the Micromax Canvas Infinity will compete against the recently launched LG Q6. As we mentioned, the specifications and features of the Micromax Canvas Infinity series have not been revealed by the company yet but looking at the LG Q6’s specifications we can make some assumption that the Micromax Canvas Infinity will carry almost the same characteristics and features of the LG Q6.
The LG Q6 comes equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD+ FullVision display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an 18:9 (or 2:1) aspect ratio and has a pixel density of 442 ppi. The smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core CPU coupled with Adreno 505 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 2TB via a microSD card. The LG Q6 runs company’s proprietary UX 6.0 UI custom skin, based on Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. For photography, the device features a 13-megapixel standard angle sensor with autofocus and an LED flash module. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 100-degree wide angle lens for better groufie (group-selfie). On the battery front, the LG Q6 comes packed with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery with fast-charging support.
