Soon after launching the Canvas 1 smartphone in India, Home-grown handset manufacturer Micromax on Monday officially launched a selfie-centric smartphone, dubbed as the “Micromax Selfie 2” in the Indian market. Priced at Rs. 9,999, the new Micromax Selfie 2 will be made available for purchase in India starting August 1 (Tuesday) via all leading offline retail stores across the country in Black colour option. The new Micromax Selfie 2 is an upgraded variant of the company’s previous “Canvas Selfie 2”, which was launched in India in August 2015. The key highlights of the smartphone are its latest Android OS, 13MP rear camera and 8MP selfie camera, and soft selfie-flash for capturing bright selfies even in low light conditions.
Interestingly, the Micromax Selfie 2 also comes bundled with a 100-day replacement scheme on any hardware issue of the device, which is applicable from the date of activation. Micromax will replace the faulty smartphone with the same or equivalent model in the first 100 days from the date of activation of the device. Note that, this 100-day replacement scheme is a part of the 1-year total warranty period.
A couple of days ago, Micromax announced a 100-day replacement warranty on any hardware problem for its all latest feature phones. To claim this replacement scheme, the feature phones should be activated and fall under the company’s given 1-year warranty period. The replacement will only be done when a hardware problem or a software issue is not possible to fix. If the eligible devices require a hardware repair, the faulty feature phones will be replaced with the same or an equivalent model by the company.
Design wise, the Micromax Selfie 2 sports a sleek metal unibody design with metal edges, giving it an overall fresh and classy outlook. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock button are all placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone and a 3.5mm audio socket is housed on the very top edge of the device. The speaker grilles are seen at the rear end of the device, while a microUSB 2.0 charging port is situated at the bottom edge of the smartphone. The rear panel of the device houses a fingerprint recognition button, a 13MP camera and an LED flash module, while the top front panel features an 8MP selfie camera, LED flash, and the earpiece.
