After a series of many leaks and revelations, the Lenovo-owned Motorola on Tuesday officially announced the most awaited and talked mid-range smartphones – the Moto C and Moto C Plus in a blog post on company’s official website. The Moto C and the Moto C Plus are ultra-budget smartphones that basically aimed first-time smartphone buyers in developing markets. According to the company, Moto C and Moto C Plus will hit various countries across Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific beginning this spring. Both the smartphones have a micro-textured back cover and are being made available in Pearl White, Fine Gold, Metallic Cherry and Starry Black colour options.
The Moto C will be available in two variants, wherein one comes with a 3G connection with 1GB RAM/8GB storage variant at a price tag of EUR 89 (approximately Rs 6,300), and the second variant comes with 4G connectivity with 1GB RAM/8GB storage, which is priced at EUR 99 (approximately around Rs 7,000). On the other hand, the Moto C Plus with 1GB RAM/16GB storage variant is announced with a price tag of EUR 119 (approximately Rs 8,500). At the moment, the Moto C and C Plus are the most affordable smartphones from Motorola and will compete against other budget-friendly smartphones in India, although the availability and pricing of the devices in India is still unknown. Moto C and Moto C Plus is expected to hit the Indian smartphone market by June.
In terms of design, Moto C is very similar to the Moto C Plus with respect to design. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock buttons are placed on the right-hand edge of the device and a 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the very top of the phone. The speaker grille is seen at the back side of the device and a microUSB 2.0 charging port is sitting on top of the middle. Both the Moto C smartphones are seen sporting capacitive navigation buttons.

In terms of specifications, the smaller version of Motorola C series, the Moto C sports a 5-inch FWVGA display with a screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. Moto C is powered by a 1.1GHz MediaTek MT6737M quad-core Cortex-A53 processor. In terms of memory, the phone is backed by a 1GB of RAM and 8GB/16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. Talking about its software fonts, the Moto C runs Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The phone comes in two connectivity variants, one that supports 3G, while another one will support 4G connection.
In terms of photography, the Moto C features a 5-megapixel rear sensor with 1.4-micron pixels, fixed focus, 74-degree field of view lens, an LED flash, and 720p video recording. On the front, there is a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter with 1-micron pixels, fixed focus, 63-degree field of view lens, and an LED flash for capturing bright selfies and video calling.
In terms of connectivity, Moto C comes in 3G and 4G variants. Connectivity options on the device also include 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a MicroUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. The Moto C comes packed with a 2350mAh removable battery. The handset measures at 145.5 x 73.6 mm x 9 mm and weighs 154 grams.

On the other hand, the Moto C Plus sports a 5-inch semi-HD display with a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Moto C plus is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6737M quad-core Cortex-A53 processor along with Mali-T720 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the phone is backed by a 1GB/2GB of RAM (depending on the variant) and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. Talking about its software fonts, the Moto C Plus runs Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.
In terms of photography, the Moto C Plus features an 8-megapixel rear sensor with 1.12 micron pixels, autofocus, f/2.2 aperture, 71-degree field of view, an LED flash module and 720p video recording. On the front, there is a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and video calling.
In terms of connectivity, Moto C Plus comes with dual-SIM dual standby support. Connectivity options on the device also include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a MicroUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. The Moto C Plus comes packed with a powerful 4000mAh removable battery. The company claims that the smartphone can deliver up to 30 hours of battery backup. The handset measures at 144 x 72.3 x 10 mm and weighs 162 grams.
