Japanese imaging company Nikon on Wednesday announced the launch of its latest point-and-shoot compact camera, the Coolpix W300. The Nikon Coolpix W300 is the successor of the company’s previous Coolpix AW130, which was launched in 2015. Just like its predecessor, the new Nikon compact camera features a rugged body and some cool specifications. Priced at $395 (approximately Rs. 25,500), the new Nikon rugged camera will be made available for purchase in the US starting this summer in Camouflage, Orange, Yellow, and Black colour variants.

Being a rugged compact camera, the new Coolpix W300 is able to perform like a champion in more difficult conditions without any anxieties. The camera’s rugged exterior is especially designed for dust and weather proof. The Nikon Coolpix W300 is made of waterproof material, that down to depths of up to 30m (100 ft.). The camera also features a shockproof characteristic from fall at up to 2.4m (7.9 ft.), freezeproof down to temperatures of 14F (-10C) and also dust & sand proof. That means you can easily handle this device in any difficult environments. The main USP of the compact camera is its 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) movie recording capability at 30fps.

KEY SPECIFICATIONS & FEATURES

Under the hood, the Nikon Coolpix W300 sports a 16-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor that allows to deliver you every detail of your precious moments. The camera comes equipped with a 5x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers the 24 mm wide-angle to 120 mm telephoto. The Coolpix W300 packs Nikon’s Hybrid VR (Vibration Reduction) function for producing blur-free shots that you can easily shoot handheld movie without any fear. The Hybrid VR technology allows it to cut handheld wobbles and camera shakes to attain crisper stills. It has a 3-inch LCD display with a 921K-dot resolution, a maximum aperture of f/2.8, Dynamic Fine Zoom2, which provides zooming power up to 10x and an ISO sensitivity range of 125-1600 (expandable to 6400).

Coming to its main USP, the Nikon Coolpix W300 is capable of shooting videos in 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) resolution at 30fps or Full HD (1920 x1080) videos at 60fps with stereo sound support. The camera also features VR during movie recording and an AE lock function for underwater video shooting. The Nikon Coolpix W300 becomes the first Nikon compact camera to support the Nikon’s SnapBridge connectivity, that allows easy transfer of images from the camera to your smart device. Other interesting features on the camera include NFC, Wi-Fi, built-in GPS, mapping functionality, an altimeter and a depth gauge.
