ZTE sub-brand Nubia on Tuesday updated its Z-Series smartphone portfolio with the launch of an another mid-ranged flagship smartphone, dubbed as the “Nubia Z17 Mini” in the Indian tech market. Priced at Rs 19,999, the new Nubia Z17 Mini will be made available for purchase exclusively on e-commerce website Amazon.in starting June 12, 2017, at 12:00 pm IST in Black Gold colour option. Nubia Z17 Mini is now already listed for pre-registration on its official website. To recall, the Nubia Z17 mini smartphone was first unveiled with 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants in China this year. In India, the smartphone has been launched in 4GB RAM variant. The main highlight of the Nubia Z17 Mini is its 13MP+13MP rear camera setup.

In terms of design, the new Nubia Z17 mini sports a metal unibody design with a sleek body and thin bezels giving it an overall premium look. Basically, the Nubia Z17 mini looks very similar to its younger sibling Nubia Z17, including the horizontal rear-side dual camera arrangement. It also features on-screen navigation buttons and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, that is housed in the back panel of the device. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock buttons are placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone and the traditional red circular capacitive home button is situated on the front panel just below the display. The speaker grilles are seen at the very bottom edge of the handset along with a USB Type-C charging port sitting in the middle.

Nubia Z17 Mini specifications and features:

In terms of specifications, the Nubia Z17 mini sports a 5.2-inch Full-HD 2.5D curved glass display with a screen resolution of 1080 × 1920 pixels and has a pixel density of 424 ppi. The display is covered with a scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The device is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. In terms of memory, the Nubia Z17 mini comes with a 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 200GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Nubia Z17 mini runs company’s own Nubia 4.0 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

In terms of optics, the new Nubia Z17 mini comes with a dual primary camera setup on the rear. One camera sports a 13-megapixel Sony full-light Monochrome sensor, while another camera comes with a 13-megapixel RGB sensor. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel front-facing shooter with 80-degree wide angle, 5P lens, and f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera features include f/2.2 aperture, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), 4K video recording, LED flash and company’s proprietary NeoVision 6.0 software package. The company says that the Nubia Z17 Mini camera offers 16 different modes other than pro and normal modes. “The dual lens of Nubia Z17 Mini will allow users to change the angle of the camera The Z17 mini 3D camera allows you to change the visual angle as you move the phone. It combines multi-view and dynamic features to create an interactive 3D motion picture,” explains Nubia.

In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM Nubia Z17 mini offers 2.2 dual-band Wi-Fi technology which allows for better and wider connectivity. Connectivity options on the device also include 4G voLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS/A-GPS/Glonass, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB-Type C port for superfast charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include Fingerprint (rear-mounted), Accelerometer, Gyroscope, E-Compass, Ambient Light sensor, and Proximity sensor. The Nubia Z17 mini is fuelled by a decent 2950mAh battery with first charging support. Dimension wise, the handset measures 146.65 x 72.5 x 7.45mm and weighs 155 grams.
