Raees and Kaabil released on 25th January. Both films looked to take advantage of the long Republic Day weekend. The numbers for the first two days are out. Shahrukh Khan starrer Raees is a clear leader for the first two days.
Raees stars Shahrukh Khan in the lead role. The public had to wait a long time for the movie. The date of release for the movie changed a few times. The movie opened big on first day collecting approximately 20.42 crore rupees. The film performed even better than the first day. The second day the movie collected 26.30 crore rupees. In total Raees has raked in 46.72 crore. The above figures are producer figures. The trader figures estimates first day collection as 20.4 crore and second day 26.25 crore. Therefore, the trader figures are a little less than the declared producer figures.
Raees had it not faced competition from Kaabil could have easily earned over 40 crore on its opening day. The movie made on a budget of 85 crore is expected to recover the costs in its first weekend.
Raees leads Kaabil in box office collections for first two days.
Second film released this week is Kaabil. Kaabil stars Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam. The film had a comparatively slow start. The film on its first day made 10.43 crore according to the Producer figures. Second day the film collected 18.67 crore. In total the film till now has made 29.1 crore. The trade figures for the collection differ quite a lot for the movie. According to the trade figures the film made 8.25 crore and 17.5 crore on the second day. This puts the total collection for the movie at 25.75 crore.
Both films are expected to have a big weekend. Kaabil earned appreciation from Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan. The promotion could lead to Kaabil having a strong weekend. But, it still faces a stiff competition from Raees.
