QLED technology is more like OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) and LED, if you look at the technology aspect of it and Samsung says that the QLED TVs achieve 100% Colour Volume and a feature called HDR 2000, which Samsung claims that the QLED panel is able to offer prominent details with no loss or distortion of colour. Further complementing about its technology, the new Q series also come with a One Remote Control accessibility, which will function with a One Connect Box that will operate in all user consoles, sound-systems, Blu-Ray players, set-top boxes etc.
Here’s everything you need to know about the QLED technology
What is QLED technology?
If you’re wondering what “QLED” means, well, the term stands for Quantum dot technology. In simple terms, it refers to the use of a Quantum Dot colour filter to expose a TV’s blue light (colours), that emits different colours brightly. With the Quantum Dot technology, there is 100 percent of colour volume enabled in the new Samsung QLED TVs. In comparison, an OLED and other TV sets can manage up to 60-70 percent colour volume, says Samsung. So building on the 100 percent colour volume, Samsung claims that the new QLED TVs using Quantum Dot technology are capable of reproducing real and life-like colours compared to conventional displays. Samsung boasts that the Quantum Dot technology allows for darker blacks and brighter whites. QLED offers HDR brightness levels between 1500 and 2000, which basically translates into crisper picture and colour reproduction.

Difference between OLED and QLED
The main difference between the OLED and QLED panels is the colour reproduction through the use of light. In OLED TVs, the spectrum of light is broad, resulting in more colour mixing and blurry details. This is much more controlled with the Quantum Dot colour technology, because here the light spectrum is narrow, which also disables colour overlapping for real-life effects. In comparison, QLEDs can produce brighter whites, while OLEDs can produce darker blacks. This is effectively calculated with HDR content where brightness levels enhance colour reproduction, thereby enhancing viewer experience.

Samsung QLED TV design
Talking about its design, the new Samsung QLEDs feature an almost bezel-less display design. Along with this new display panel technology, Samsung has also developed a new no-gap wall mounting solution that will make the QLED TVs sit “absolutely flush with the wall.” On the other hand, users will be getting other two mounting options as well, including a Studio Stand and Gravity Stand.

The new Samsung QLED TVs are further equipped with a new optical connection cable which basically means there is just a single cable (apart from power) to blend seamlessly with the interiors of a given place. Additionally, the new QLED TVs also feature new smart TV interface including voice control, support for the company’s Smart View app on smartphones, Shazam music service and Samsung TV Plus service as well. The app is available on both Android and iOS platform devices. By using its Smart View App, you can share your music, pictures and also access your TV through built-in remote. Smart View app that allows for better mobile-to-TV experience.
