Japanese electronics company Sharp on Monday updated its Android One smartphone catalogue with the launch of a new Android One smartphone, called the “Sharp X1” in the Japanese tech market. The new Sharp X1 is the successor to the company’s another Android One smartphone, Sharp Aquos 507SH, which was launched in Japan back in July 2016.

Priced at JPY 70,524 (approximately Rs. 40,400), the unlocked version of the Sharp X1 will be made available for purchase starting today via Japanese mobile carrier Y! Mobile (a subsidiary of SoftBank) in Dark Purple, Mint Green, and White colours options. The Sharp X1 comes equipped with a mobile payment feature called the “FeliCa”, which is a contactless payment method used in Japan to pay for retail goods in stores and for transportation. The Sharp X1 Android One smartphone comes with 18 months of guaranteed Android updates from the company.

Sharp X1 Specifications and Features:

Talking about its specifications, the new Sharp X1 smartphone sports a 5.3-inch full-HD IGZO display with a screen resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. The device is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 (MSM8940) octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. In terms of memory, the smartphone is backed up by a 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. On the software front, the phone runs on Google’s latest Android v7.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.

For photography, the Sharp X1 Android One smartphone features a 16.4-megapixel main camera with an LED flash module. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls. The smartphone also sports a front-mounted fingerprint sensor, that is housed underneath the physical Home Button of the device.

In terms of connectivity, the water and dust resistant, Sharp X1 Android One smartphone offers various connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, hotspot, Bluetooth, and a USB Type-C charging port for charging and data transfer. The Sharp X1 comes packed with a decent 3,900mAh battery with power saving technology. Dimensionally, the handset measures 152.0 x 74.0 x 8.9 mm and weighs 182 grams.
