Japanese smartphone maker Sony had launched its flagship Xperia XZ Premium smartphone in the Indian tech market earlier this month. Now, almost two weeks later, the company has started shipping units of its Xperia XZ Premium smartphone across the country from today. Carried a price tag of Rs 59,990, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is now made available for purchase through company’s official retail store Sony Centres, e-commerce website Amazon India, and all leading retail outlets across the country in Luminuous Chrome and Deep Sea Black colour options.
The company has also announced a best buying offer for the Xperia XZ Premium smartphone. Those customers who have already pre-booked the smartphone, Sony is offering an SRS-XB20 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker for free worth Rs. 8,990. Apart from that, interested customers can also avail an additional benefit of Rs 13,060 on exchanging their old smartphones with the new Sony Xperia XZ Premium smartphone. Further, the latest flagship smartphone comes bundled with a 3-month subscription to Sony LIV worth Rs. 349 for free, as well as 5200 game credits on Gameloft’s Modern Combat 5.

In terms of specifications, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium sports a 5.5-inch Triluminos 4K (2160 x 3840) HDR display with a pixel density of 806 ppi (pixel per inch) and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating on top. The Xperia XZ is the world’s first smartphone with a 4K HDR screen, which Sony claims the resolution is 40% brighter and better than high-definition displays. The XZ premium is powered by the latest and fastest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM and Adreno 540 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of storage, the XZ Premium sports a 64GB inbuilt memory with the option to expand further up to 256GB via a microSD slot. Talking about its software front, the Xperia XZ Premium runs on company’s own custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
For photography enthusiasts, the Xperia XZ Premium comes with a 19-megapixel rear camera with Sony’s new “Motion Eye” camera system (based its new memory stacked 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor) that provides 5x faster image scanning and data transfer. “Motion Eye” camera is capable of shooting videos at 960 frames per second, providing Super slow motion video playback that is apparently four times slower than other smartphones. Other camera features include 5-axis image stabilisation, 25mm f/2.0 lens, 1.22-micron pixel sensor, Hybrid Autofocus, 4K video recording and SteadyShot technology. On the front, the Xperia XZ Premium sports a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with 1/3.06-inch Exmor RS sensor featuring with an aperture of f/2.0 and a 22mm wide-angle lens.
In terms of Connectivity, the device supports dual SIM dual standby using the (nano-SIM + nano-SIM/microSD) slot. Connectivity options also include 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth v 5.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, GPS with GLONASS, a 3.5mm audio jack, NFC and USB 3.1 Type-C port for super-fast charging and data transfer. The Sony XZ Premium packs with a non-removable Li-Ion 3230 mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology for fast charging. Sensors on the device include Fingerprint, Proximity, Compass, G-sensor, Magnetic, Gyro, Barometer and colour spectrum sensors. The Xperia XZ Premium measures 156 x 77 x 7.9 mm and weighs around 191 grams.
