The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has launched its latest smartphone, the Vivo Y66 in India at a price tag of Rs 14,990. Vivo Y66 is another selfie-focused smartphone from the company, which had recently introduced its Vivo V5, Vivo V5 Plus in the country. Packaged with exciting features, the 4G enabled smartphone is aimed at winning over selfie enthusiasts with its 16-megapixel front-facing camera which comes with a LED flash that the company calls “Moonlight Glow”. The “Moonlight Glow” feature induces a natural glow on the face without straining eyes that lights up the picture irrespective of the lighting conditions,” the company explained in a release.
The Vivo Y66 comes with a 2.5D curved glass, sleek unibody design and metallic radiance back cover. The smartphone is available in color options of Crown Gold and Matte Black.

In terms of specifications, the new Vivo Y66 features a 5.5-inch LCD IPS display with 1280 x 720 HD resolution and a 2.5D curved glass with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection. The device is powered by a powerful 64-bit Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 (Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, along with Adreno 505 GPU. The Vivo Y66 comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage capacity, which can be further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
The Y66 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system wrapped under Funtouch OS 3.0 on top. The Y66 also comes with certain additional features such as a ‘Smart Screen-Split’ feature for multitasking. Users can watch videos and chat simultaneously on the same screen without causing strain to the eyes with its “Eye Protection Mode,” that reduces strain on the eye.
In terms of photography, Vivo Y66 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. Talking on the front shooter, it bears a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 system and soft flash for selfies and video chats. Other features of the Y66 camera are: Face Beauty, Panorama, HDR, Night, Professional Photo, Filters etc. The rear camera is capable of video recording in full HD (1080p) resolution.
In terms of connectivity options, Vivo Y66 comes with dual-SIM card slots with a hybrid setup. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Wi-Fi hotspot, 4G LTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB v2.0 with OTG support, GPS, and FM radio. Sensors on board the smartphone include an accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient Light Sensor, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor and compass.
The Vivo Y66 is backed up by a non-removable 3000mAh Li-Polymer battery with Quick Charge 2.0 technology. The handset measure 153.8 x 75.5 x 7.6 mm and weighs 155 grams.
