The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is expected to launch its next Mi Max successor, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 in a couple of days. But surprisingly Xiaomi has shared a poster that teases the launch date of its next generation big screen smartphone, the Mi Max 2 over the Chinese social media website Weibo. The official page for Mi Max 2 is also live on Xiaomi’s website and the official page shows that the company will host a press conference in Beijing on May 25, 2017 at 2 PM. Going by the poster, the Mi Max 2’s launch will be graced by the presence of the Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun, and other top executives of the company. The famous Chinese girl band called Shanghai 48 aka SNH48 will also be at the launch, if you take a look on the poster.

However, there are many leaks and rumours about the Mi Max 2 from the last couple of months. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has been subjected to multiple leaks ahead of the launch which does reveal a gist of all the specifications and features about the huge-screen device. If the rumours are to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 would see a significant overhaul in terms of specifications and arrive with a host of improvements. The main highlight of the device will be its mammoth 5,000 mAh battery and the massive 6.44-inch full-HD resolution display.

Design wise, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will sport an all-metal unibody with the fingerprint scanner on the centre at the back panel. The handset is also said to pack dual speaker grilles with USB-C type charging port at the bottom edge of the device and a 3.5mm headphone jack on top of the device.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 specifications and features:

In terms of specifications, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will sport a 6.4-inch full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is expected to come in two CPU variants- Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC with 4GB of RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with 6GB of RAM. The smartphone is rumoured to cost around CNY 1,499 (approx. Rs. 14,000), while the premium variant will cost CNY 1,699 (approx. Rs. 16,000). In terms of memory, the dual-sim based Mi Max 2 will come with a 64GB/128GB of internal storage variants. On the software front, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will run on Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box with company’s own MIUI 8 custom skin running on top of the device.

In the terms of photography, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will have a 12-megapixel Sony IMX378 rear sensor with Dual LED flashlight and 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution video recording support. On the front, it is said to sport a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie and video calling. For connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will feature 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, IR blaster, NFC, a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The device will come loaded with a decent 5,000mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge technology for fast-charging.
