Beijing-based electronics company Xiaomi on Thursday silently introduced its budget-oriented Redmi 4A smartphone in the Indian tech market with an upgraded RAM and native storage option. If you don’t remember, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A was first launched in the country earlier this year only in 2GB RAM & 16GB in-built storage option and now the Chinese vendor has introduced an upgraded 3GB RAM & 32GB storage variant in the Indian market. With the new 3GB RAM & 32GB in-built storage variant, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A will now be available in two variants: Redmi 4A with 3GB RAM & 32GB native storage and Redmi 4A with 2GB RAM & 16GB native storage. Carried a price tag of Rs. 6,999, the new Xiaomi Redmi 4A with 3GB RAM, 32GB storage variant will be made available for purchase in India starting August 31 (Thursday) via company’s online store Mi.com and other e-commerce websites including Amazon.in, Flipkart.com, Paytm, TataCLiQ as well as company’s offline retail store Mi Home stores across the country in Dark Grey, Gold and Rose Gold colour variants. However, apart from its hardware job, the rest specifications and features are same to same as we have seen in the other existing Redmi 4A models. Talking about its design, the Redmi 4A comes with seamless polycarbonate body with curved metal edges. The build quality looks and feels like metal but it’s actually good quality plastic with a metallic coat on top. At 8.5mm, the smartphone is quite thin and its slight curves on the edges to make phone sit comfortably in your palm. The key highlights of the Redmi 4A are its dual-SIM configuration, 4G VoLTE support, a powerful 3,120mAh battery, 13-megapixel rear camera and IR Blaster support, an infrared technology that can be used as a universal remote to control third-party electronics & appliances like set-top boxes, audio and video equipment, fans, air conditioners or DVD players.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A Specifications and Features:

Technically speaking, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A comes equipped with a 5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels and offers a pixel density of 443 ppi. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 64-bit 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 308 GPU to handle the graphic contents. In terms of memory, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A comes in two variants based on its RAM and internal storage configuration: Redmi 4A with 2GB RAM & 16GB native storage and Redmi 4A with 3GB RAM & 32GB native storage. Both the internal storages capacity can be further expanded by up to 128GB via a hybrid micro-SD card slot. On the software front, the dual-SIM smartphone runs company’s proprietary MIUI 8 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. The Redmi 4A also supports dual apps feature, allowing you to have two WhatsApp accounts on one device.

In terms of photography, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), 5-element lens, an LED flash module, and full-HD (1080p) video recording support. On the front, the smartphone bears a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with an f/2.2 aperture for capturing selfies and making video calls.

On the connectivity front, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A supports dual-SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM configuration (Micro-SIM + Nano-SIM/microSD) slot. That means you can either use this as a dual-SIM phone without memory card option or single-SIM phone with memory card option. Apart from this, the smartphone also offers various connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, IR blaster, FM radio, microUSB v2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on board the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Infrared sensor, Gyroscope and Proximity sensor. The phone doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor. On the battery front, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A comes packed with a powerful 3,120mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support and rated to deliver up to 7 days of standby time on a single charge. Dimensions of the Xiaomi Redmi 4A are 139.5 x 70.4 x 8.5 mm, and it weighs in at 131.5 grams.
