To recall, the Chinese electronics company Xiaomi launched its first Mi Notebook Air in China back in July 2016. After that, the company launched the upgraded version of the previous base model, dubbed as the Mi Notebook Air 4G which runs on Windows 10 OS. Adding to the Mi Notebook Air portfolio, Xiaomi on Monday unveiled a new refreshed version of the Mi Notebook Air with a 13.3-inch screen in the Chinese tech market. The new “Mi Notebook Air 13.3” will be made available for purchase starting June 18 (Sunday) via company’s official website Mi.com.
The new Mi Notebook Air comes packed with a wide range of new features and performance upgrades including Intel’s latest Kaby Lake processors, a fingerprint sensor for biometric security, and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics cards. Apart from the Mi Notebook Air 13.3 version with 7th generation Intel Core i7 processor variant, the company has also unveiled a 7th gen Intel Core i5 model with two different storage variants. As for pricing, the 7th gen Intel Core i5 with 8GB RAM and 128GB PCIe storage variant is priced at CNY 4,999 (approximately Rs 47,350), while the 8GB RAM and 256GB variant will be available with a price tag of CNY 5,499 (approximately Rs. 52,100). As of now, the company has not revealed the pricing details of the new Mi Notebook Air 13.3-inch variant.
Mi Notebook Air 13.3 Specifications and Features:
The new updated Mi Notebook Air comes equipped with a 13.3-inch full-HD display with a screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The Mi Notebook Air 13.3 is powered by the new 7th generation Intel Core i7 processor with clock speed at 3.0GHz. The company claims that the new 7th generation Intel Core i7 processor (Kaby Lake) machines are now up to 10 percent faster (performance) than the previous 6th generation Core M3 version. In terms of memory, the Mi Notebook Air 13.3 is backed by 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM and comes in two storage configuration of 128GB PCIe SSD and 256GB PCIe SSD. The new Mi Notebook Air 13.3 comes with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics card with 2GB GDDR5 memory for powerful performance and flawless gaming visuals. The new graphics card is tuned to deliver up to 3x better performance when compared to the previous NVIDIA GeForce 940MX and just 1GB GDDR5 memory.
Ports on the device include two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, one USB 3.0 Type-C port, and one HDMI port. The connectivity options offered by the notebook include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and a new version of 4G LTE modem. The device also features 2 x 2W AKG dual speakers with Dolby Audio for an outstanding audio quality even without headphones. The new updated Mi Notebook Air measures at 14.8mm in thickness and weighs only 1.2 Kg. The Mi Notebook Air 13.3 packs a 40Wh battery with fast charging support. Talking about its battery life, Xiaomi claims that the battery backup on the 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air is about 9.5 hours, while the 12.5-inch notebook variant promises to deliver up to 11.5 hours of battery life.
