After launching the V870 smartphone earlier this month, Shenzhen-based handset manufacturer ZTE on Thursday launched an another mid-range smartphone, dubbed as the “ZTE Small Fresh 5” in the Chinese tech market. ZTE Small Fresh 5 is the successor to the company’s previous “Small Fresh 4” smartphone, which was launched in July 2016. Now, the new ZTE Small Fresh 5 comes equipped with latest technology, upgraded features, and premium design. The ZTE Small Fresh 5 has been launched in China in two variants, wherein one comes with 3GB RAM/16GB inbuilt storage variant at a price tag of CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 9,500) and the second variant comes with 4GB RAM/32GB inbuilt storage, which is priced at CNY 1399 (approximately Rs. 13,250). All the variants of the ZTE Small Fresh 5 will be made available for purchase starting July 5 via all leading retail stores across the country (China) in Dark Night Grey, Elegant Gold, Glacier Blue and Green colour options. As of now, the company did not reveal the launch details and availability of the new ZTE Small Fresh 5 smartphone for other markets.
ZTE Small Fresh 5 Design:
In terms of design, the ZTE Small Fresh 5 comes with a sleek metal unibody design with an anodized custom metal paint and metal frame all around, meaning that the device sports a relatively premium build quality. The new smartphone features three capacitive navigation buttons and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, located just middle of the device. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock buttons are all housed on the right-hand edge, while a 3.5mm audio socket is placed on the very top edge of the smartphone. Two speaker grilles are seen at the bottom edge of the handset along with a microUSB charging port sitting in the middle. The rear panel houses a 13MP +2MP dual rear camera setup, LED flash module and fingerprint recognition button, while the top front panel features a 5MP selfie camera, sensors, and an earpiece.
ZTE Small Fresh 5 Specifications and Features:
In terms of specifications, the ZTE Small Fresh 5 sports a 5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a 2.5D curved glass coating on top. The device is powered by a 64-bit 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor coupled with 500MHz Adreno 308 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the ZTE Small Fresh 5 is backed by a 3GB/4GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the smartphone runs company’s proprietary MiFavor UI 4.2 custom UI skin, based on Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
In terms of optics, the ZTE Small Fresh 5 features a dual-camera setup at the back with a combination of the 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, it sports a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls.
In terms of connectivity, the ZTE Small Fresh 5 supports Hybrid dual-SIM configuration (Micro SIM + Nano SIM / microSD), that means you can either use this as a dual-SIM phone without memory card option or single-SIM phone with memory card option. Apart from this, the smartphone also offers various connectivity options including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, NFC, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include Fingerprint sensor (rear-mounted), Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor and Gravity sensor. On the battery front, the new Small Fresh 5 packs a decent 2500mAh battery. Dimensionally, the handset measures at 145.0 x 70.7 x 7.9mm and 132 grams.
