Soon after launching the Blade A3 budget smartphone in China, Shenzhen-based handset manufacturer ZTE has announced the launch of its another new budget-friendly smartphone, called the “ZTE Voyage 5” in the Chinese tech market. The ZTE Voyage 5 comes in two variants based on its RAM and internal storage capacity – one with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage and the other with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The ZTE Voyage 5 is the successor to the company’s previous ZTE Voyage 4, which was launched in last year. As for pricing, the ZTE Voyage 5 has been launched in China with a price tag of CNY 1,199 (approximately $181 or Rs. 11,700), and it will be available for purchase in the country only in Black colour option. Though, the Chinese vendor didn’t clarify for which version this price tag has been set and when it will be available for purchase. The key highlight of the ZTE Voyage 5 is its massive 5,000mAh battery that also supports fast charging technology and an intelligent power saving feature.
Design wise, the ZTE Voyage 5 sports a metal unibody design with metal frame all around giving it an overall fresh and classy look. The new smartphone features a trio of capacitive touch buttons for navigation. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint recognition button, located just middle of the back panel of the device. The volume up-down keys and the power/lock button are all placed on the right-hand edge of the device and a 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the very top edge of the phone. The speaker grilles are also seen at the bottom edge of the handset along with a microUSB 2.0 charging port sitting in the middle. The rear panel of the smartphone houses a 13MP camera, LED flash module, fingerprint recognition button and ZTE logo, while the top front panel features a 5MP selfie camera, sensors, and an earpiece.
Technically speaking, the ZTE Voyage 5 comes equipped with a 5.2-inch HD display with a screen resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top of the display. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, which comes paired with a 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage, which is further expandable in nature. On the software front (OS), the device runs on Google’s Android 7.1 Nougat operating system with company’s custom UI skin running on top.
For photography, the ZTE Voyage 5 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and an LED flash. On the front, it sports a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls. In terms of connectivity, the ZTE Voyage 5 supports dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, a 3.5 mm audio jack and microUSB v2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include an Accelerometer, Fingerprint sensor (rear-mounted), Ambient light sensor and Proximity sensor. On the battery front, the new ZTE Voyage 5 comes packed with a mammoth 5,000mAh battery that supports fast charging and an intelligent power saving feature.
