Home-grown mobile manufacturer, Videocon on Tuesday launched a new smartphone in the Indian smartphone market, called Krypton 22. The Krypton 22 lands in a mid-range smartphone category which is quite affordable for everyone. Priced at Rs. 7200, the phone comes with the latest version of Android 7.0 Nougat, IR Blaster for controlling third-party electronics & appliances and support for VoLTE as well as VoWiFi. The VoWifi feature which allows the user to use the same phone number and the same smartphone dialler interface while making a call over the any WiFi network or over cellular network and the VoLTE (Voice-over-LTE) technology, that allows voice calls to be carried over LTE networks. The Videocon Krypton 22 smartphone, which will be available in offline stores in Black colour option.

In terms of specifications, the Videocon Krypton 22 sports a 5-inch FWVGA (480×854) display and is powered by MiraVision technology, which enhances the picture quality for the display. The company says, “Leveraging MediaTek’s algorithms expertise, MiraVision offers a range of visual enhancements for images and videos, while preserving power.” The smartphone is powered by a 1.1GHz Quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 64GB by using a microSD card.
Camera-wise, the Krypton 22 comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual tone LED flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera, which also has a LED flash.
The Videocon Krypton 22 is a dual SIM smartphone that accepts Micro-SIM and Micro-SIM (GSM and GSM). Connectivity options also include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB OTG, infrared (IR Blaster) and FM radio. The smartphone also comes with VoLTE and VoWiFi support which promise sharp and clear voice calling. Like mentioned earlier, the Krypton 22 also features an IR Blaster that can be used as a remote to control set-top boxes, audio consoles, TVs, fans, air conditioners or DVD players. Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor.
Talking about the software font, the Videocon Krypton 22 runs latest Android edition 7.0 Nougat. The device draws power from 2450mAh battery and measures 145.20 x 72.00 x 8.90 mm.
Other features include SOS-Be-Safe feature and panic button. This feature keeps you safe and alerts your nearest people and inform them of yours exact location in case of emergencies. The phone also comes with a pre-installed app called Shoto, which allows users to get a free backup on the cloud for all their media files (photos & videos). Videocon is also offering 1-year subscription of Eros Now & 1 Full version Gameloft game with the handset.
