Huawei’s sub-brand Honor on Tuesday launched the entry-level Honor 6A smartphone and the Honor Band A2 fitness tracker in China. Alongside, the company has also launched its two new tablets — the Honor Play Pad 2 (8-inch display) and Honor Play Pad 2 (9.6-inch display). Both tablets will be available in Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE variants, as well as their different internal memory variants. Both new tablets will be made available for purchase from June 1 (Thursday) in China via Huawei’s official online store, Vmall.com and as well as the Chinese e-commerce sites, Jingdong, and Lynx.

The Honor Play Pad 2 (8-inch) WiFi-only variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage is priced at CNY 799 (approximately Rs 7,500) while the 4G LTE version with 2GB RAM is priced at CNY 999 (approximately Rs 9,400). The 4G LTE model with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage is priced at CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs 12,200). On the other side, the Honor Play Pad 2 (9.6-inch) WiFi only variant with 2GB RAM is priced at CNY 999 (approximately Rs 9,400), while the LTE variant with 2GB RAM is priced at CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs 12,200). And the 4G LTE model with 3GB RAM is priced at CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs 14,100). Both tablets also support voice calling on 4G LTE network.

Honor Play Pad 2 features and specifications:

In terms of specifications, both variants of Honor Play Pad 2 feature an HD IPS display (screen size wise) with a screen resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels. The Honor Play Pad 2 is powered by a 1.4GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, coupled with dedicated GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory storage, the tablet is backed by a 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. On the software front, the device runs company’s own Emotion 5.1 custom skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

In terms of photography, both the Honor Play Pad 2 (8-inch) and Honor Play Pad 2 (9.6-inch) feature a 5-megapixel rear camera with and dual LED flash. On the front, there is a 2-megapixel camera with for video calling and capturing selfies.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE (model wise), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, USB OTG, and a Micro-USB port 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Both the Honor Play Pad 2 (8-inch) and Honor Play Pad 2 (9.6-inch) are fuelled by a decent 4800mAh non-removable battery that is rated to deliver up to 500 hours of standby mode. Dimension wise, the Honor Play Pad 2 (8-inch) measures 211.07 x 124.65 x 7.95mm and weighs 350 grams, while the 9.6-inch Honor Play Pad 2 measures 229.8 x 159.8 x 7.95mm and weighs 460 grams.
