‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s Kaala being directed by Pa. Ranjith under Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films banner with a musical score by Santhosh Narayanan has one of the best ensemble casts assembled in recent years.
The talents roped include Nana Patekar as the antagonist, Samuthirakani, Huma Qureshi, Anjali Patil, Easwari Rao, Shayaji Shinde, Pankaj Tripathy, Major Bikramjith, Aravind Akash, Nithish, Arul Doss, Dileepan, Ramesh Thilak, Velu, Jeya Perumal, Ravi Kale, Manikandan, Arundhati, Sakshi Agarwal, Karuppu Nambiar, Yathin Karyakar, Raj Madhan and Suganya in important supporting roles.
That said, there are now reports stating Rajinikanth will not be romancing Huma Qureshi alone as believed initially. It is being said actress Easwari Rao is playing his wife while the Gangs of Wasseypur actress will be his lover in the film. If this indeed turns out to be true, we can be certain that the makers of Kaala are delving deep into creating multiple layers for Rajini’s character, which as now looks questionable in terms of being moral as well as a gangster with negative shades, who steps up for the cause of the masses.
Easwari Rao’s inclusion in Kaala happened after her strong performances in Tamil and Telugu films over the years were taken into account. The film has no doubt been the talk among fans off late after rumors stating Malayalam superstar Mammootty was playing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar started floating around, which was later denied. Then came the speculation Dhanush would appear as a younger Rajinikanth akin to his role in his directorial debut Pa Paandi aka. Power Paandi.
Looks like we will just have to wait and see now how things shape up.
