Anurag Basu self-assuredly has always stepped into projects in various genres, starting from adultery and sex, romantic thrillers, all the way to film comedy – now making his choice to biopic stories. All his movies are no lesser genre, one must admit be it a Barfi or ‘Life in a Metro’. Now he is very much ambitious to kick off a new film project that would sketch the life of legendary singer Kishore Kumar. And that is not an easy job for Anurag who grew up on Ray and Ghatak films.
When the filmmaker when asked about the status of Kishore Kumar’s biopic, he stated that every biopic movie goes under the scanner of legal issues and he is keen to complete those formalities first and then could proceed on the subject.
Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor who played a lead role in earlier movie ‘Barfi’ and now ‘Jagga Jasoos’, is likely to be chosen to act as Kishore Kumar in the said biopic. “This is a film I am really looking forward to”, Anurag added.
Speaking about the movie ’Jagga Jasoos’, he finds musical genre as very tough, as the process of the filmmaking is really challenging and very frightening too.
His movies have a perfect script- but that is not for debate. After all, Anurag Basu’s wisdom asks.” Can men and women ever really be friends?”. In the case of ‘Barfi’, the answer was yes, they can be friends and soulmates. This formula again will be repeated in ‘Jagga Jasoos’. And his ‘Jagga Jasoos’ will be for all ages regardless. And above all, the film is ‘technically’ a comedy, but it certainly delivers in the romance department
