After launching the Eluga I3 Mega smartphone in India in May, the Japanese smartphone maker Panasonic on Monday launched a new budget-oriented smartphone, called the “Panasonic P55 Max” in the Indian tech market. Priced at Rs. 8,499, the new Panasonic P55 Max will be made available for purchase starting today exclusively via e-commerce website Flipkart.com in Matte Black and Gold colour options. The major highlights of the Panasonic new device are its mammoth 5000 mAh battery and an improved 13MP rear camera with quad LED flash for excellent low-light photography. Apart from this, the smartphone also supports “ZigPlay” feature (to be received via OTA [over-the-air]) that “keeps all your priorities at fingertips with simple-to-use profiles and keeps you connected on-the-go at home, in the car, at work or anywhere you go.”

Design:
In terms of design, the Panasonic P55 Max sports a metal unibody design with a sophisticated removable back cover and a smooth metallic texture at the back side, giving it an overall fresh look. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock buttons are all placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone. A 3.5mm audio socket and microUSB charging port are housed on the very top edge of the device. The speaker grilles are seen at the very bottom edge of the handset along with a microphone. The Panasonic P55 Max also features onscreen navigation buttons. The rear panel of the device houses a 13MP camera with Quad LED flash unit, while the front upper panel of the smartphone bears a 5MP camera and the earpiece.
Specifications:
In terms of specifications, the Panasonic P55 Max comes equipped with a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 720 × 1280 pixels. The device is powered by a quad-core 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor clubbed with Mali T720 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Panasonic P55 Max is backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. On the software front, the handset runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and company’s custom UI skin running on top.
In terms of photography, the Panasonic P55 Max features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, and quad LED flash for excellent low-light photography. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for making video calls and capturing selfies. The rear camera also supports features like ISO control, Scene mode, White balance control, Panorama and much more.
For connectivity, this dual SIM smartphone offers 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include Accelerometer, Gravity sensor, Proximity sensor, and Ambient Light Sensor. On the battery front, the Panasonic P55 Max comes packed with a powerful 5,000mAh battery with fast charging support. Dimension wise, the handset measures 152 × 77.6 × 8.7 mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 165 grams.
