After launching the Canvas 2 (2017) smartphone in India, domestic handset manufacturer Micromax on Monday expanded its Canvas series smartphone portfolio with the launch of an another pocket-friendly smartphone, dubbed as the “Canvas 1” in the Indian tech market. Priced at Rs. 6,999, the new Micromax Canvas 1 will be made available for purchase starting today through all leading mortar and brick stores across the country in Matte Black and Chrome Black colours variants. Interestingly, the Micromax Canvas 2 comes bundled with a 100-day replacement scheme on any hardware issue of the device, which is applicable from the date of activation. Note that, this 100-day replacement scheme is a part of the 1-year total warranty period.
A couple of days ago, Micromax announced a 100-day replacement warranty on any hardware problem for its all latest feature phones. To claim this replacement scheme, the feature phones should be activated and fall under the company’s given 1-year warranty period. The replacement will only be done when a hardware problem or a software issue is not possible to fix. If the eligible devices require a hardware repair, the faulty feature phones will be replaced with the same or an equivalent model by the company.
Micromax Canvas 1 Specifications and Features:
In terms of specifications, the Micromax Canvas 1 comes equipped with a 5-inch TFT HD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor clubbed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a micro SD card.
Talking about its software front, the dual-SIM Canvas 1 runs on company’s customised UI skin, based on Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Android 7.0 Nougat introduces notable changes to the OS (operating system) and its development platform. So all the latest features of the OS are present in the device such as split-screen multitasking, inline replies to notifications, “Doze” power-saving mode, etc. It also comes pre-loaded with App freezer feature, which disables memory-intensive apps to save battery and restrict background processes.
In terms of photography, the new Micromax Canvas 1 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with 80-degree wide view angle and a dual colour temperature flash. On the front of the device, there is a 5-megapixel camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens and an LED flash for capturing bright selfies even in low light conditions.
In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM Canvas 1 offers various connectivity options including 4G VoLTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio port, and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Canvas 1 is fuelled by a 2,500mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 7 hours of talk time and lasts up to 180 hours in standby mode. Dimensionally, the handset measures 143 x 71 x 8.3 mm and weighs 150 grams.
