Huawei’s sub-brand Honor on Wednesday expanded its product portfolio with the launch of two new budget-oriented smartphones, “Honor V9 Play” and “Honor 6 Play” in the Chinese tech market. The new Honor V9 Play comes in two different variants based on its RAM configuration: Honor V9 Play with 3GB RAM and Honor V9 Play with 4GB RAM. Both the variants come coupled with 32GB internal storage. As for pricing, the Honor V9 Play has been launched in China with a price tag of CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 9,800), while for the top-spec variant with 4GB RAM, you have to pay CNY 1199 (approximately Rs. 11,800). On the other hand, the Honor 6 Play has been priced at CNY 599 (approximately Rs. 5,900). In terms of availability, the Honor V9 Play will be made for purchase in China starting September 12 via Huawei’s official online store, Vmall.com in Gold, Black, Red and Blue colour options. On the other hand, the Honor 6 Play will be made for purchase in China starting September 7 via company’s official online store, Vmall.com in Gold and White colour options.

Honor V9 Play Specifications and Features:

Coming to the specifications, the Honor V9 Play sports a 5.2-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a 2.5D curved glass protection on top of the display. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor clubbed with Mali T860 image processing unit. In terms of memory, the phone comes loaded with a 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage, which is further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software fronts, the dual-SIM Honor V9 Play runs company’s proprietary EMUI 5.1 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. The smartphone comes with a premium metal unibody design and features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, which the company claims it can unlock the device just within 0.4 seconds.

In terms of photography, the Honor V9 Play comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), an f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, and an LED flash. Talking about its selfie camera, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper with an f/2.2 aperture for capturing selfies.

On the Connectivity front, the device supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM slot (Nano + Nano / MicroSD). Connectivity options on the Honor V9 Play also include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth v4.1, and a microUSB port for charging and other connectivity. On the battery front, the Honor V9 Play is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery that rated to deliver up to 16 hours of talktime and up to 15 days of standby time. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Fingerprint (rear-mounted) sensor, and Proximity sensor. Dimensionally, the handset measures 147.9 x 73.2 x 7.65mm and weighs 145 grams.

Honor 6 Play Specifications and Features:

The Honor 6 Play features a 5-inch HD IPS multi-touch display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The phone sips its power from a quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor that offers a clock speed of 1.4GHz and comes coupled with Mali-T720 MP2 GPU. The performance is further enhanced by a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB with the help of a microSD card. On the software front, the handset runs company’s own EMUI 4.1 custom UI skin, based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

The Honor 6 Play gets an 8-megapixel camera at the rear with autofocus, and an f/2.0 aperture. For selfies, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with an f/2.4 aperture and an LED flash for capturing bright selfies. Connectivity options offered by the Honor 6 Play include Dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wii 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB charging port. On the battery front, the Honor 6 Play packs a 3,020mAh battery that is rated to offer up to 15 hours of talk time on 3G network, up to 13 hours of video playback time, up to 68 hours of music playback time and up to 15 days of standby time. Dimensionally, the device measures 143.8 x 72 x 8.85mm and weighs about 150 grams (including battery).
