Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming has been going slow but steady worldwide, but now it just got a big jump on the Chinese box-office. When the film eventually opened in China, it was expected to bring a favorable result and it did!
The Spidey reboot opened to a big $21.6 million on its very first day at the Chinese box-office. Thanks to some previews also, it has made unofficially around $23 million, so far.
Now, the Tom Holland starrer has become the highest opening day superhero grosser this year, and the third best in the Chinese market behind Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. Previously released two Spiderman reboots (The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2) also had a great run in China.
So, it seems like before going to rest on the box-office track, there is still left some more juice, in the Homecoming, which is bringing fans into the theatres and it will push its overall collections beyond $800 million-appears to be.
Currently, Spider-Man sits at around $748 million, across the globe, but with a positive response from Chinese audience, the mark of 800 is not too far. Seems under the radar.
