As the race towards next year’s Oscars has already begun with many acclaimed film-makers coming up with stellar ideas and mind blowing films, there has been an exception this time, as far as sending entries for the nominations, are concerned. Marvel/ Fox’s Logan, the best superhero fiction movie of the year and a box-office and critical success, has become the first film of this year to be sent as a ‘For your consideration DVD screener’ to the Academy voters.
The distributing studio, 20th Century Fox has, for the first time, showed an aggressive interest in sending out a probable Oscar contender that it is hoping, can bring honours, in multiple categories.
Logan, has no doubt, been the best superhero flick by far, since The Dark Knight which was the only superhero genre movie, almost a decade ago, to be nominated for more than one category. And it did, eventually won an Oscar, in the Best Supporting actor category, for Heath Ledger who portrayed the role of Joker, a comic-book villain of Batman.
Logan has seen a tremendous support and backing from almost every cinema fan since its release, to see it as an Oscar winner, come February, next year.
Hugh Jackman, who played the immortal role of Logan aka Wolverine, an X-Men comic character, was praised for his unmatched and probably the best performance of his life, in this movie. If the Academy Awards happen to be favoring superhero flicks a bit more than ever, then it won’t be a surprise if Logan turns out to be the Best Film, along with Jackman winning the Best Actor award and James Mangold taking home the honor of the Best Director!
