After launching the Aqua Note 5.5 smartphone in India last month, home-bred handset manufacturer Intex Technologies has recently updated its “Aqua” series of smartphones catalogue with the launch of its latest VR enabled smartphone, dubbed as the “Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+” in the Indian market. Carried a price tag of Rs. 5,799, the new Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+ is now already made available for purchase in India exclusively via e-commerce website Flipkart.com in Champagne colour option. The Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+ is a new member of company’s popular Aqua series that we have seen the recently launched Aqua Note 5.5 with Android 7.0 Nougat OS, 4G VoLTE support and now the Intex Aqua Note 5.5 can be considered as a little-upgraded version of the Aqua Note 5.5 smartphone. Actually, the recently launched smartphone is also the successor of the company’s previous Intex Aqua 5.5 VR smartphone, which was launched in India last year. The key highlights of the Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+ are its pre-loaded music streaming feature, QR Code scanner, latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS, and a selfie-flash for capturing bright selfies even in low light conditions.

As the name suggests, the Aqua 5.5 VR+ comes bundled with a compatible VR Headset and 3D content to experience VR content. In addition to VR (Virtual reality) capability, the device also comes with pre-loaded services like QR Code scanner, Xender file transfer apps, Vistoso image editing apps and more pre-installed apps. Apart from this, the Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+ also comes preloaded with popular music streaming app Gaana, which allows users to enjoy free unlimited access to all their favourite songs and stream and download popular tracks and albums.

In terms of design, the Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+ sports a metal unibody design with a textured back panel, giving it an overall fresh and classy look. The new smartphone features three capacitive navigation touch buttons and a front LED flash that is housed on the top front panel of the device. The volume up-down keys and the power/lock button are all placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone, while the speaker grilles are situated at the rear end of the device. A 3.5mm headphone socket is placed on the very top edge of the device along with a microUSB port sitting in the middle. The rear panel of the smartphone houses an 8MP rear camera setup and an LED flash module, while the top front panel features a 5MP selfie camera, LED flash, sensors, and an earpiece.

Talking about its specifications, the Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+ comes equipped with a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone draws its power from a 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737V/W quad-core processor, which comes coupled with Mali-T720 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+ is backed up by a 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for memory expansion by up to 64GB. On the software (OS) front, the Aqua 5.5 VR+ runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.

In terms of photography, the Aqua 5.5 VR+ features an 8-megapixel autofocus rear-facing camera with dual LED flash. On the front, the device houses a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with an LED flash module for capturing bright selfies and making video calls even in low light situations. The rear camera features include HDR, Panorama, Face detection and more.

On the connectivity front, the is a dual-SIM Aqua 5.5 VR+ offers various connectivity options which include dual-SIM dual standby, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+ is fuelled by a denser 2,800mAh lithium-ion battery. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient Light sensor and Proximity sensor. Dimension wise, the smartphone measures 153 × 77.5 × 10.3 mm and weighs 176 grams.
