Darren Aronofsky’s most ambitious project mother!, which finally released last week, has seen one of the most unpredictable reactions from fans and critics, with its Rotten Tomatoes ratings standing at 68%-indicating mixed to mostly positive reviews, by critics.
But, it seems the US audience has already decided the fate for mother!, and according to CinemaScore, the fans have given it a rare and disappointing ‘F’ grade! This F grade means a very-very negative and violent reaction, any film can get.
With this, mother! has entered the list of those dozen movies who have previously received the F grade in the history-certainly not a thing to be proud of.
May be the reason for mother’s early failure is that it’s distributing studio Paramount, promoted the film to lure a wide audience, without thinking that what kind of audience the movie should attract! The filmmakers were banking upon Jennifer Lawrence’s aura and it might have just backfired-as it appears to be.
