After introducing the P9 smartphone in India earlier this month, Japanese multinational electronics giant Panasonic on Tuesday expanded its Eluga Ray series of smartphones portfolio with the launch of two new budget-oriented smartphones, “Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 and Panasonic Eluga Ray 700” in the Indian market. As we have reported earlier, both the smartphones were spotted on domestic e-commerce platform Flipkart’s website with “Coming Soon” tag. But there was no official confirmation about their availability. However, this is now official as the company on Tuesday officially launched their two smartphones at an event in New Delhi.

As for pricing, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 has been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 8,999, while the Eluga Ray 700 has been priced at Rs. 9,999. Both the newly launched smartphones will be made available for purchase in India starting September 21 at 12 am IST (Thursday) exclusively via e-commerce website Flipkart.com, during its Big Billion Days Sale. The Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 and Panasonic Eluga Ray 700 will be available in three body colour options including Champagne Gold, Mocha Gold and Marine Blue. Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 Features and Specifications:

Starting with the Panasonic Eluga Ray 500, the smartphone comes equipped with a 5-inch HD On Cell display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistant 2.5D curved glass protection on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by a quad-core 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737 processor clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot (Hybrid Memory Slot). On the software front, the handset runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. The smartphone sports a full-metal unibody design and features a front-mounted fingerprint sensor that is housed underneath a physical Home Button of the smartphone.

In terms of optics, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 houses a dual rear-facing camera setup that comes combined with one 13-megapixel primary sensor with a 5P lens, an f/2.0 aperture, and one 8-megapixel secondary sensor with a 6P lens and an f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera setup is accompanied by a dual-LED flash module for excellent low-light photography. On the front, the handset features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 3P lens and an f/2.4 aperture for making video calls and capturing selfies.

For connectivity, the Eluga Ray 500 is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts two Nano-SIM cards. Apart from this, the smartphone also offers 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, and Fingerprint Sensor (front-mounted). On the battery front, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 comes loaded with a powerful 4,000mAh non-removable battery. Dimension wise, the handset measures 144.26 x 71.26 x 9.2mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 163 grams.

Panasonic Eluga Ray 700 Features and Specifications:

Moving on to the Panasonic Eluga Ray 700, the handset flaunts a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a scratch resistant 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.3GHz Mediatek MTK6753 octa-core processor clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot (Hybrid Memory Slot). On the software front, the smartphone runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. The Eluga Ray 700 sports a full-metal unibody design and features a front-mounted fingerprint sensor that is housed underneath a physical Home Button of the handset.

In terms of photography, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 700 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, an f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens and an LED flash module. On the front, the smartphone sports an another 13-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash for capturing bright selfies even in low-light conditions.

On the connectivity front, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 700 is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts two Nano-SIM cards. Apart from this, the smartphone also offers various connectivity options including 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Magnetometer, and Fingerprint Sensor (front-mounted). On the battery front, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 700 comes packed with a high-density 5,000mAh non-removable battery. Dimension wise, the handset measures 153.75 x 75.35 x 8.9mm and weighs 182 grams.
