Japanese technology company Sony Corporation on Tuesday expanded its Cyber-Shot line-up with the launch of its latest superzoom camera, dubbed as the “Sony Cybershot RX10 IV” in the Indian photographic market. Sony Cyber-shot is the company’s digital camera range which falls somewhere between a standard point-and-shooter and the full-blown DSLR. Priced at Rs 1,29,990, the Cybershot RX10 IV camera will be made available for purchase in India starting October 14 via all Alpha flagship stores as well as all leading offline electronic stores across the country.

The new Cybershot RX10 IV is the successor to company’s previous RX10 III, which was launched last year. The Cybershot RX10 IV comes with an array of smart and intelligent features including Optical SteadyShot image stabilization for capturing blur-free images, 4K movie recording support, a tilt adjustable LCD screen with Touch Focus and TouchPad features, a new 24-600mm Carl ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T lens with a maximum aperture of F2.4-F4.0 and an impressive 25x optical zoom. The camera has a hybrid AF that combines 315 focal-plane phase-detection and contrast-detection AF methods. The company claims that the phase-detection AF points can cover approximately 64 percent of the frame and help the camera to lock focus in just 0.03 seconds (world’s fastest AF acquisition time of 0.03 seconds in the fixed lens digital camera category).

The Sony Cybershot RX10 IV comes equipped with a 1.0-type 20.1MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor with DRAM chip. Further, the CMOS sensor comes combined with an upgraded BIONZ X image processing engine and front-end LSI for accurate and realistic image processing, high-speed response and improved continuous shooting performance. Sony claims that it can shoot effectively and accurately even for the handheld indoor and dim/low light shooting (stills and movies).

Carl ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.4 — f/4.0 and a powerful 25x optical zoom

Now, distance is no issue as the compact camera comes with a Carl ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T lens, it offers a premium 25x optical zoom range. You get a focal length that can go as wide as 24mm and as tele as 600mm, while the available aperture is f/2.4 — f/4.0. Pull everything closer with a powerful Clear Image Zoom feature on the camera.

The Sony Cybershot RX10 IV offers various capabilities like continuous shooting at up to 24 frames per second with full AF/AE tracking, buffer limit up to 249 images at a time, and a maximum electronic shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 second. The new electronic shutter operates silently without creating any mechanical noise to prevent disruptions when shooting wildlife, sports, or events in a quiet environment. The camera also has a high-speed Anti-Distortion Shutter that effectively reduces the “rolling shutter” effect that is commonly experienced with fast moving subjects.

The Sony Cybershot RX10 IV sports a manually tilt adjustable 3-inch LCD display with 1.4million dots resolution for framing and composing shots and get the result what exactly you’re looking for. The LCD screen supports Touch Focus and Touch Pad function. Though like a DSLR, the camera’s 2.35M dot, high-contrast XGA OLED Tru-Finder gives you a clear, true-to-life image preview with 100% field coverage for focusing, framing, and reviewing shots.

4K UHD video recording capability

Talking about its video recording capability, the Cybershot RX10 IV is capable of 4K videos (UHD) video recording with a manual focus and zoom ring for smooth adjustment. On the right-hand side of the camera, there is an easily-accessible mode dial and a custom button for quick adjustment of favourite settings. The camera is also capable of recording slow motion videos at 960fps.

Optical SteadyShot

The Sony Cybershot RX10 IV also comes with Optical SteadyShot feature for producing blur-free shots that you can easily shoot a handheld movie without any fear. The Optical SteadyShot technology allows it to cut handheld wobbles and camera shakes to attain crisper stills. Connectivity options offered by the camera include built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy and NFC.
