After launching the U11 premium smartphone in the Indian market, Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC is all set to introduce its next U-branded premium smartphone in Taiwan early next month. The Taiwanese company has already started sending out “Save the Date” media invites for an upcoming smartphone launch event, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 2 in the company’s homeland, Taiwan. The company has confirmed this news on its official Twitter handle. The tweet reads, “We’re bringing something new for the #BrilliantU.”

The media invite shows an image of U letter, scheduled launch date with a bold line “Save the Date”. The “U” letter hints that the company might launch a new smartphone under its U-series. Though the press invite doesn’t reveal any clear information about the upcoming HTC smartphones or which specific smartphone will launch at the event, it is likely to be the HTC’s U11 Plus smartphone. Some people say the new device could be the high-end HTC U11 Plus, other people say it might be the mid-range HTC U11 Life, as the multiple rumours have already been leaked about the two HTC U-branded smartphones.
However, there are numerous leaks and rumours about the HTC U11 Plus have been surfaced on the various websites from the last couple of months. The HTC U11 Plus has been subjected to multiple leaks ahead of the launch which does reveal a gist of specifications and features about the premium device. If the rumours and leaks are to be believed, the HTC U11 Plus would see a significant overhaul in terms of specifications and arrive with a host of improvements.
HTC U11 Plus rumoured Specifications and Features:
According to the Frandroid reports, the HTC U11 Plus will sport a 5.99-inch Quad HD+ bezel-less display with a screen resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with Adreno 540 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the HTC U11 Plus will be offered in two variants: HTC U11 Plus with 4GB RAM and 64GB UFS 2.1 storage and HTC U11 Plus with 6GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. On the software front, the HTC U11 Plus will run Google’s latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box.
In terms of photography, the HTC U11 Plus is expected to feature a 12-megapixel UltraPixel 3 rear-facing camera with a dual-tone LED flash, which we saw in the HTC U 11. On the front, it will sport an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls. The HTC U11 Plus is also expected to boast an IP68 rating, which will make the device dust and water resistance and it can be submerged up to 1.5 meters in water for 30 minutes. The device will also support Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 quick charging technology using an 18 Watt (9V / 2A) adaptor. Just like the HTC U11, the HTC U11 Plus will also come with the HTC’s Edge Sense technology. The Edge Sense technology allows users to squeeze the phone by giving voice commands.
HTC U11 Life rumoured Specifications and Features:
On the other hand, the HTC U11 Life will sport a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Under the hood, the HTC U11 Life is expected to be powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor along with Adreno 508 GPU. There is also a possibility that the device may come in two variants, one with 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage, and another with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage, both these internal storage variants are further expandable. In terms of photography, the HTC U11 Life is expected to feature a 16-megapixel camera on the rear and another 16-megapixel camera on the front. The smartphone will also sport a front-mounted (underneath the physical home button) fingerprint sensor for biometric security. For connectivity, the HTC U11 Life will support 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz & 5.0GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, GPS with GLONASS and a USB Type-C port. On the software front, the 4G-enabled smartphone is expected to run on Google’s latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box. Finally, the HTC U11 Life will reportedly boast an IP67 certification and it will pack a 2600mAh battery.
