American computer technology company Dell on Thursday announced the launch of its latest 15-inch notebook with InfinityEdge display, called the “Dell XPS 15” in the Indian Laptop and PC market. The Dell XPS 15 was first announced in January 2017 at the world’s biggest consumer technology tradeshow (CES 2017) along with the company’s Rose Gold XPS 13 and XPS 27 AIO PC. The latest XPS 15 features a stunning 15.6-inch full-HD (1920×1080 pixels) InfinityEdge display, Intel Core i7 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card and a powerful battery pack that is claimed to offer “the longest battery life in a 15-inch laptop.” The Dell XPS 15 has been launched in the country with a starting price of Rs. 1,17,990 and will be available for purchase in India via the company’s online store (www.dell.co.in), as well as Croma, Reliance Digital outlets and all authorized Dell exclusive retail outlets across the country.
Technically speaking, the Dell XPS 15 comes equipped with a 15.6-inch full-HD InfinityEdge display with a screen resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and offers a wide viewing angle of up to 170 degrees. Under the hood, laptop is powered by the 7th generation Intel Core i7 H-series processor (Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad-core processor with 6M Cache and clock speed up to 3.8 GHz) coupled with up to 32GB of 2400MHz DDR4 RAM for smooth multitasking and up to 512GB PCIe-based solid-state drive (SSD) storage for faster data access speeds and boot-up times. In terms of graphics, the 15-inch Dell XPS comes packed with an Intel HD Graphics 630 integrated GPU or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 discrete GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 dedicated VRAM for an incredible gaming performance and detailed gaming visuals.
Talking about its software (OS), the Dell XPS 15 runs on Windows 10 Home Single Language version and features a fingerprint sensor for instant and one-touch authentication process. Apart from this, the laptop also features a full size, backlit chiclet keyboard for comfortable working in dark environments. In terms of design, the Dell XPS 15 sports a carbon fiber-coated palm rest and an all-aluminum chassis, giving it an overall stunning outlook and making a sturdy and durable device.
Connectivity ports on the thinnest notebook include one USB 3.1 Type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI 2.0 port, one 3.5 combo Audio Jack port, one Thunderbolt 3.0 port, and one SD Card Reader slot (SD, SDHC, SDXC). The Thunderbolt 3 connectivity gives you hyper-fast data transfer speeds up to 40 Gbps and easier device connections. It also allows users to charge the laptop and also connect to multiple devices including support for up to three Full HD displays or two 4k displays. In terms of connectivity, the laptop supports Killer 1535 Wi-Fi 802.11 ac with 2×2 technology and Bluetooth.
Talking about its multimedia department, the Dell XPS 15 premium laptop features dual stereo speakers with Waves MaxxAudio Pro-tuned high definition audio support that delivers smooth, rich, and crystal-clear sound experience to users in music, movies, voice, and even gaming. The laptop features an HD (720) webcam that offers a wide-angle field of view for making video calls. On the battery front, the Dell XPS 15 comes packed with a powerful 56Whr battery that is rated to deliver a decent and unprecedented battery life when using productivity applications. Note that, battery life may vary depending on the workload, usage type, and environmental conditions. Dimensionally, the Dell XPS 15 measures at 357 x 235 x 11-17mm (W x D x H) and weighs 1.8 kg.
