HMD Global-backed Nokia on Monday announced the launch of its mid-range Android-powered Nokia 5 smartphone in the Indian market with an upgraded RAM option. If you don’t remember, HMD Global launched its Nokia-branded Android smartphones in India in the month of June at an event in New Delhi, which includes one mid-range Android smartphone, “Nokia 6” along with two lower mid-range smartphones, namely Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. The Nokia 5 was first introduced in the country only in 2GB RAM & 16GB inbuilt storage option and now the company has introduced an upgraded 3GB RAM variant in the Indian market.
With the new 3GB RAM variant, the Nokia 5 will now be available in two variants: Nokia 5 with 3GB RAM and Nokia 5 with 2GB RAM. Carried a price tag of Rs. 13,499, the Nokia 5 3GB RAM variant will be made available for purchase in India starting today midnight exclusively via e-commerce website Flipkart.com in Matte Black and Tempered Blue colour options. The new variant will also be available in the country via all leading offline retail outlets starting from November 14th. However, apart from its hardware job, the rest specifications and features are same to same as we have seen in the original or standard Nokia 5 model.
Nokia 5 Specifications & Features:
Recollecting some key specifications, the Nokia 5 comes equipped with a 5.2-inch HD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection on top of the display. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Nokia 5 is backed up by a 3GB / 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. In terms of design, the Nokia 5 sports a seamless aluminium 6000 series body and a front-mounted fingerprint scanner, that is housed underneath the physical home button of the device. On the software front (OS), the Nokia 5 runs on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box (upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo).
In terms of optics, the Nokia 5 features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1.12-micron pixels, an f/2.0 aperture, and an LED flash module. Talking about its selfie camera, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter with an f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree field of view lens and autofocus for capturing selfies and making a video call. Connectivity options offered by the Nokia 5 include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include an Accelerometer, Ambient Light sensor, E-compass, Fingerprint sensor, Gyroscope, Hall sensor and Proximity sensor. On the battery front, the smartphone draws its all power from a decent 3,000mAh non-removable battery. Dimensionally, the handset measures at 149.7 x 72.5 x 8.05 mm.
