Oneplus has emerged as one of the most sought-after companies and even more reliable for the consumers, as far as product satisfaction and performance is concerned. And its not an easy task, especially in today’s vast competition going on among the big giants like Apple, Samsung and Google. But hey, listen. Now, OnePlus is gradually coming into this league too, firstly with OnePlus 5, earlier this year, and now, finally ending the calendar with the former’s successor, the all-new OnePlus 5T!
The company eventually and officially launched the latest 5T version, in New York with some new features and changes in size.
Now for all those who are real OnePlus lovers, without wasting more words, lets come straight to the specs department and see what does the new 5T packs in itself for its followers?
Display and Design
The OnePlus 5T comes with an enhanced 6.01-inch Full HD+ (Full Optic AMOLED) bezel-less display having a resolution of 2160x1080p. Since it’s a sequel to its previous brother, there is a change in the screen size which is slightly taller and possesses an aspect screen ratio of 18:9.
The display is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which also supports sRGB and DCI-P3 colour gamuts.
And just like the OnePlus 5, the 5T is a metal unibody-built model, using anodized aluminium.
Speed, Performance, Connectivity and Security
For ensuring the best performance, and seamless experience (which was the greatest thing about the OnePlus 5), this time too, the company has ensured that the same smooth experience is felt by the users, but with even more power. And for this, the 5T is backed-up by a massive 6 GB of RAM for the 64 GB variant and 8 GB of RAM for 128 GB model!
For maintaining the power-packed performance of the phone there is the latest Snapdragon 835 SoC, clocking at 2.45GHz.
There are connectivity options which are exactly like the OnePlus 5, namely, a Bluetooth v5.0 (aptX and aptX HD), GPS/ A-GPS, 4G VoLTE, dual band (2.4GHz, 5GHz), Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO 2×2, 3.5mm audio jack along with a USB Type-C (v2.0) port.
As far as the sensors are concerned, 5T possesses an array of the ones like, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, digital compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor and an RGB sensor.
But most importantly, the security is ensured by the fingerprint sensor which, this time, gets replaced on the back of the phone, unlike OnePlus 5 which had the fingerprint sensor on the front home button.
Still, something new has also been added this time for the newest 5T-the Face Unlock feature. The company claims that its Face-recognition feature can unlock the phone in just 0.4 seconds, based on advanced facial recognition algorithms, using over 100 facial features identity points.
Camera, Storage and Price
Now, comes the utterly important part, i.e. the camera segment. And with some notable changes, the camera of 5T promises to be as good as OnePlus 5’s-and even surpassing it!
The 5T comes with a dual-camera setup just like its older brother but what’s changed this time is regarding the aperture and focal length. There is a primary camera on the dual-camera setup, with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 sensor with 1.12-micron pixels, and an aperture of f/1.7. But its focal length has got upgraded to 27.22 mm.
And on the other hand, the secondary camera has been improved as being a revised one, with a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376K sensor. Unlike OnePlus 5, there is no telephoto lens but the one thing that remains there, is 1-micron pixel size, and an aperture enhancement of f/1.7 and focal length to 27.22mm – the same as the primary sensor.
Adding to this, there is also dual-LED flash on the rear camera setup. Talking about the video capabilities, the 5T’s camera can shoot 4K videos at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps.
Instead of emphasizing on the depth-of-the field, the company has tried to make the camera more improved for capturing brilliant low-light pictures with the ‘Intelligent Pixel Technology’, merging four pixels into one while ensuring each resultant pixel captures enough light.
Although, the dual-camera setup still supports depth-of-field effects and Portrait mode.
The company announced that for a better camera user interface, they have made it easier for the users to use the phone in one-handed mode, courtesy new swipe gestures. And there is also the Pro mode of OnePlus, being added to the 5T this time, along with the EIS.
On the front, there is a 16 MP Sony IMX371 sensor, with 1-micron pixels (aperture f/2.0) and the ability to record 1080p videos at 30fps.
The OS platform is supported by the latest Android Nougat 7.1.1 combined with OnePlus’s own built and customized latest Cynogen OS 4.7.
As mentioned above, the dual-SIM (Nano) based 5T comes in two options as far as the storage is concerned. One model comes with an internal capacity of 64 GB while the other is having a 128 GB of massive internal strength.
For the durability to run throughout the day, the battery won’t disappoint the user,s with a size of 3,300mAh non-removable battery. There is also the famous Dash-charge (5V and 4A) fast charging feature.
Lastly, coming to the pricing point of 5T. The latest version will be available in India from November 21st with the 64GB/6GB RAM variant being priced at Rs.32,999, and the 128GB/8GB RAM variant being priced at Rs.37,999-exclusively on Amazon.in. The pricing has been similar to the OnePlus 5, interestingly.
