Lara Croft, in a still from Rise of the Tomb Raider

Lara Croft is a big name in the video game arena and fans love her, and also admire the character’s massive appeal. The unending craze for this classic female gaming character rose to new heights when the reboot games, developed by Square Enix, for PC and other consoles, were released, with Tomb Raider initiated in 2013, and then getting brilliantly followed by the even more exceptional, Rise of the Tomb Raider, in 2015.

Initially these two games were not predicted to be such a ‘big breathe of a fresh air’ for the franchise, but, now, everything’s changed.

Recently, speaking to the GamesIndustry International, Square Enix’s CEO, Yoskue Matsuda agreed that the last two Tomb Raider games have been a remarkable success and performed up to standard for the company.

Its noticeable that 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider game alone, sold about 7 million copies worldwide, overall! And on the other hand, 2013’s first rebooted game, Tomb Raider was a blockbuster in itself, selling about 11 million copies!

In total, about 18 million copies have been sold of these two reboot games-and its really a big-big reason to rejoice, for not even Square Enix, the developing co., but also for the Tomb Raider and Lara Croft fans too.
