Former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino opines that Manchester City have a much more vulnerable defence compared to other title rivals and this may hamper their chances in long run.

Former Republic of Ireland international while responding to the reason behind Citizen’s back to back defeat in hands of Chelsea and Leicester City said, “The one I don’t see winning as many games is Man City. I think Man City’s back three or four or whatever he plays is far more vulnerable than the others. That is the one side I will see concede goals on a regular basis,” he stressed while talking about frailties at the back.

Man City have recovered well

Citizens have recovered well to win three consecutive matches and remain within striking distance of the leaders Chelsea but their defensive woes have to be addressed as early as possible if Guardiola wants to win the league at his third club of coaching career.

Looking at the recent losses, Guardiola’s concede four goals against a Leicester team which seemed to have been boosted at Etihad Stadium.Any repeat of such performance at Anfield may  result a more severe loss considering the kind of attack Liverpool posses.

The Merseyside Reds are the only team among top 6 to have scored more number of goals than the Citizens. The likes of Pablo Zabaleta have to remain on their toes to stop Coutinhos from scoring.

“There are six teams who will probably stretch away further from the rest,” Cascarino said on talkSPORT. “They’re just hitting form. We’re going to see a lot of games against each other in the next few weeks.”

“Obviously Tottenham have got Chelsea and that’s a huge test for them. All six of them look like they’re going to win lots of games,” Cascarino added.

Pep Guardiola, who has the reputation of winning the league at the two clubs he has managed, may look for a few players in the January transfer window to pluck the loopholes in defense.
