Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Ducati on Wednesday launched a new version of its popular off-road biased Multistrada 1200 Enduro bike, dubbed as the “Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro” in the UK. The 2017 Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro is specially designed for riders who want to continue their journey in the muddy, patchy and dusty roads. The new Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro comes with a host of improvements such as sand coloured front end and tank cover with rough surface finish, Pirelli Scorpion Rally tyres, two-tone (black and sand) seat, a titanium performance exhaust by Termignoni and Touratech crash bars with LED lights. The 2017 Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro will be made available for purchase in the UK starting from July at a price tag of £18,995 (roughly Rs. 15.5 lakhs).
DESIGN
In terms of design, the Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro sports sand coloured front end and tank cover with a rough surface finish, giving it an elegant look. It also features two-tone (black and sand) seat and the black painted sub-frame, engine alternator covers and clutch. The off-road biased Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro comes engineered with Pirelli SCORPION Rally tires, fitted as standard: 120/70 R19 tubeless alloy spoked wheel at the front and 170/60 R17 at the rear. The Pirelli SCORPION Rally tires are ideal for use on difficult surfaces and provide extra grip and better control over muddy and patchy roads under all weather conditions. Other off-road biased features include Ducati Performance branded bull bars by Touratech with LED lights, a low screen for better visibility in the dark and Ducati Performance exhaust by Termignoni which is compliant with EU standards.
ENGINE
Talking about its mechanical department, the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro is powered by a Euro IV compliant 1198.4cc liquid-cooled, Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) V-twin engine that generates 152 hp of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 128 Nm of maximum torque at 7,500 rpm. Like all Multistrada models, Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro features 4 riding modes- Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro. The Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro comes equipped with a fully adjustable 48 mm upside-down (USD) forks at front and a remote spring rear shock with adjustable preload and rebound. It also gets Ducati Skyhook Suspension Evolution system with 200 mm of wheel travel that is ideal for off-road rides.
SAFETY
In terms of safety, the Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro offers various safety features including Bosch 9.1ME cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) for ensuring maximum safety, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL) as well as Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) for smooth uphill starts. Other standard features on the bike include Electronic Speed control, TFT dashboard, and the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) which uses Bluetooth connectivity to connect the bike to a smartphone.
Ducati has launched the “Pro” variant of the Multistrada 1200 Enduro to compete against the BMW R1200 GS Rallye.
