Indu Sarkar, a film based on the Emergency, helmed by Madhu Bhandarkar, is receiving strong criticism from Congress party, and it is said that Congres has asked CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani to screen the film in advance of its release. According to Nihalini, the film needs no ‘NOC” certificate from Gandhi family. Congress has also alleged that the film takes potshots at the party’s First Family.
Indu Sarkar may be a good film and since it is directed by Madhur it has created a lot of sensation both in the media and even the viewers. From the poster released earlier, we can easily identify with the characters of Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi and other Congress leaders who were associated with Indira Gandhi during the emergency in the 1970s.
Actor Supriya Vinod will be seen in the titular role, Indira Gandhi, in the film. Neil Nitin Mukesh plays the character of Indira Gandhi’s son Sanjay Gandhi, Kirti Kulhari will narrate the character of a girl who is influenced by a leftist leader played by Anupam Kher. In the trailer released, one can not see much of Anupam Kher and Supriya Vinod. But the trailer reveals more around Neil Nitin Mukesh and even Kirti Kulhari who puts up a great show in a lock-up.
The film is all set to release on 28 July 2017. Madhur has helmed the affairs of screenplay, direction and even written the story of the film, besides co-producing it.
