Domestic handset manufacturer Intex Technologies on Tuesday updated its Aqua series smartphone portfolio with the launch of an another entry-level smartphone, dubbed as the “Intex Aqua S3” in the Indian tech market. The Intex Aqua S3 is a new member of company’s popular Aqua series that we have seen the recently launched Intex Aqua Crystal Plus with 4G voLTE support and now the Aqua S3 can be considered as a watered down version of the Aqua Crystal Plus. A few days ago, the company also launched a budget-oriented smartphone, Intex ELYT e7 in India, which is now exclusively available on Amazon.in. Priced at Rs 5,777, the new Intex Aqua S3 will be made available for purchase through all leading offline retail stores across the country in Champagne Gold colour option. The main highlights of the smartphone are its high capacity charger (2Amp) support, miFon security system and latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
In terms of design, the Intex Aqua S3 comes with a sleek metal unibody design and metal frame all around giving it an overall simple and classy look. The new smartphone features three capacitive navigation buttons and a front LED flash that is housed on the top front panel of the device. The volume rockers and the power/lock buttons are all placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone. The rear panel houses an 8MP rear camera setup with a LED flash module, while the top front panel features a 5MP selfie camera, LED flash, sensors, and an earpiece.
In terms of specifications, the Intex Aqua S3 sports a 5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels. The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz Spreadtrum 9832A quad-core processor which is coupled with Mali MP2 512 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the device is backed by a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card. On the software front, the Intex Aqua S3 runs on Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with light custom UI skin running on top. Android 7.0 Nougat introduces notable changes to the OS (operating system) and its development platform. So all the latest features of the OS are present in the device such as split-screen multitasking, inline replies to notifications, “Doze” power-saving mode, etc.
In terms of optics, the Intex Aqua S3 comes equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and single LED flash. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with an LED flash for capturing selfies and making video call even in low light.
In terms of connectivity, this dual-SIM Intex Aqua S3 smartphone offers 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include Proximity sensor, Gravity sensor, and Ambient Light Sensor. The Intex Aqua S3 comes packed with a decent 2450mAh battery with fast-charging support. Dimensionally, the handset measures 146.5 x 73 x 9.8mm and weighs 165 grams. Apart from these specifications, the device also comes preloaded with QR Code scanner app, miFon 9 in 1 security suite, Gaana and Vistoso image editing apps.
