After launching the Kult Beyond budget smartphone in India last month, home-bred smartphone manufacturer Kult on Friday expanded its budget-oriented smartphone portfolio with the launch of a new smartphone, called the “Kult Gladiator” in the Indian tech market. Priced at Rs. 6,999, the new Kult Gladiator 4G-enabled smartphone will be made available for purchase in India starting September 24 (Sunday) exclusively via e-commerce website Amazon India in Black colour option. The e-commerce website Amazon India, through a teaser on their website, has announced that their e-commerce platform will be the exclusive retail partner for the Kult Gladiator device. Amazon India has already put up a dedicated web page with ‘Notify Me’ live button, where interested customers can register their name, e-mail ID for notifications about the Kult’s next budget smartphone. The main highlights of the smartphone are its 13MP front camera, fingerprint sensor, Android 7.0 Nougat OS, a mammoth 4,000mAh battery and selfie-flash for capturing bright selfies even in low light conditions. The handset also features a rear-mounted fingerprint recognition button for biometric security.
The Kult Gladiator comes bundled with a free one-time screen replacement warranty for a period of one year. To claim this replacement scheme, the smartphone should be activated and fall under the company’s given 1-year warranty period. Apart from this, it also comes pre-loaded with default apps like Amazon, Amazon Prime Video, Opera Mini and Go2pay. On the other hand, Reliance Jio subscribers will get up to 20GB of additional 4G data on the purchase of Kult Gladiator.
Technically speaking, the Kult Gladiator flaunts a 5.5-inch HD On-Cell IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top of the display. Under the hood, the smartphone draws its power from a 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor which is coupled with an ARM Mali-T720 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the device is backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. On the software front, the Kult Gladiator runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.
In terms of photography, the Kult Gladiator comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and an LED flash module. Talking about its selfie camera, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter with an LED flash for capturing bright selfies even in low light situations. As we mentioned above, the Kult Gladiator features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for the biometric authentication process. The multifunctional fingerprint recognition button on the device not only used for unlocking the device but also it can be used to select applications, answer calls, play and pause music and movies, turn off the alarm and scroll the homepage.
In terms of connectivity, the Kult Gladiator supports dual-SIM dual standby using two independent SIM slots. Besides this, the handset also offers various connectivity features including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include a Fingerprint sensor (rear-mounted), Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, and Ambient Light Sensor. On the battery front, the Kult Gladiator comes packed with a powerful 4,000mAh battery that is claimed to deliver a full-day worth battery life on networking and entertainment. Dimensionally, the handset measures 156.9 x 77.2 x 9.3mm.
