The Chinese smartphone maker nubia on Monday launched and another lower mid-range smartphone, the M2 Lite, in India at a price tag of Rs 13,999. The Nubia M2 Lite will be made available in Black Gold colour variant exclusively from e-commerce website Amazon.in. The main highlight of the Nubia M2 Lite is the sleek 7.5 mm thick metal unibody with slim bezels, and 16-megapixel front camera housing an in-built, soft led flash. The Nubia M2 Lite is a new member of company’s new M-series that we have seen the recently launched M2 with dual camera setup and now the M2 Lite can be considered as a toned down version of the M2.
For its price, M2 Lite will compete with Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus, Huawei Honor 6X, Lenovo Z2 Plus, OPPO A57, srt.phone and others. To recap, the Nubia M2 Lite was first unveiled in China in March. The M2 Lite runs the company’s Nubia 4.0 UI skin, based on Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow, unlike the China variant, which was based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
Nubia had added a host of customisations to the M2 Lite, around the software front. The device supports app cloning, where users can create/handle two accounts in the same device. Users can also split the screen into two by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. The screen will be divided into the left and right sections in landscape mode and into upper and lower sections in portrait mode. The device’s split screen feature supports most third party applications, claims the company. It has also added a long screenshot feature to capture everything as you scroll down the screen with one click. Interestingly, there’s also a screen recording feature on this smartphone.

In terms of specifications, the M2 lite sports a 6-inch semi-HD TFT display with a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels and covered with 2.5D glass for swift figure gestures. The device is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor (4 x 1.5GHz, 4 x 1.0GHz) coupled with Mali-T860 GPU. The M2 lite comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. The M2 Lite also comes with a front facing home button featuring the fingerprint sensor. It also offers Hi-Fi audio output using the AW8738 chip and supports 7.1 channel DTS sound effects.
In terms of photography, the major highlight of the M2 Lite is its 16-megapixel BSI CMOS front-facing sensor with 5-pieces Motor Drive Lens, Organic Glass Lens, f/2.0 aperture, inbuilt soft LED flash, and a 79.8 wide angle lens. The smartphone also comes with 9 beauty modes and 90 mods to capture good selfies. The camera app comes loaded with “NeoVision 6.5″ technology that enables a “strong multi-functional camera” like any DSLR. NeoVision 6.5 technology offers different modes including Multi Exposure, Electronic Aperture, Light Painting, Star Trail, Slow Shutter, SLO-MO, Video Maker, Time-Lapse, DNG, Clone, Trajectory, Marco Camera and Panorama. Talking about its primary camera, the Nubia M2 Lite sports a 13-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture to absorb more light in low lit conditions and minimising noise.
The connectivity options on the Nubia M2 Lite include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and USB OTG. Nubia M2 Lite supports dual-SIM dual standby using the hybrid slot technology where the user can opt for a MicroSD card instead of a secondary SIM. The Nubia M2 Lite is fuelled by a non-removable 3,000mAh Li-ion battery with 5V/2A fast charging support. The smartphone measures 155.73×76.73×7.68mm and weighs 164 grams.
